Depends. Some people can really pull off cell shading and make it look very appealing. Sometimes it ends up looking like something more is needed to make the image well rounded. I usually prefer a painterly shading style or gradient shading...but I like things that look texturally shiny...^^;

I've seen some really nice cell/gradient combo and I wanted to figure out how to do the gradient effect on my art program (I'm sure its not too hard to figure out!). But then I've seen some really nice painty pieces.. but most artists use Photoshop, and I have paint shop pro which I don't think can imitate that "liquid"y brush that PS has.
