Once again my faith in humanity plummets...

So I don't why I even bother listening to the radio anymore, but thanks to a certain station, some people in Nashville are in a hilarious state of panic. For those of you who may not have heard, geologists have been speculating that our magnetic poles may shift. They can predict this because there is a certain type of rock that is created by the lava that is cooled down by the ocean and eventually makes up parts of the ocean floor. This type of rock is magnetic and the way in which the lava hardens and cools to make up the floor shows us the current state that the poles are in. our ocean floors are not universal and if you were to look at a magnetic mapping of the floors then you would see a striped patter of were the floor was created differently based on were the poles where at the time the floor was being made.
Anyways that is my brief and crude explanation of that. it may not be 100% acurate so wiki it or something and correct me if I am wrong and have nothing else to do. but by sticking to the pattern, they think our poles are about to shift.
What this means: our current navigational technology will have to be recalibrated which isnt that big of a deal, the movement of continents may shift to a new direction but will not cause any immediate changes in our lifetimes, you may see auroras in new places (maybe), your current state of how live will most likely not change unless you are a pilot, in the navy, love looking at compasses, or use gps a lot.
What this DOES NOT MEAN: that the world is going to rotate on it's axis causing the north part of the globe to now exist in the south and that because you think this is what is going to happen, that you can get on the radio and panic and cause other people to call in and panic and freak out and go buy all of my cereal and milk and bread at the grocery store.
Please do your research before saying stuff like that....it is this kind of shit right here that gets people overreacting for nothing...

Dude. U should know this already. It's tennessee, they overreact to everything. Say "there's going to be a 20% chance of snow today" and everyone freaks out and goes to kroger to get bread and water and dont come out of there houses b/c it snowed 2".

Working at a grocery store I can contest to this. It might snow an inch and people rush to the store. They act as if there arent snowplows out all day and night, salting everything imaginable. Any snow is gone in like a couple hours.
