Sol's theorys #1: Selling adoptables
Sol: Ok, so I've been looking at a lot of adoptables. Some had great designs, but others....not so much. I've also been looking at how fast they're being sold. So I've come up with a list of things that I think helps these things get sold. ( NOTE: this is just my opinion. )
#1. people everywhere are selling adoptables and making money, and you want in on it, but before you can do anything, you need one very important thing. THE DESIGN. This part is harder than you think. Let me explain why. Scenario 1: you come up with a design and post it online, but then, someone comes around and accuses you of stealing their design. It turns out that this person had the same character as the one you're trying to sell. Now this person, AND their watchers are mad at YOU.
Scenario 2: lets say you sell the design and it turns out that someone else had that design. Now it's even worse because ,1, you most likely will haft to give a refund. 2, now you'll be known for selling stolen property.
See what I'm saying. Now lets say you manage to make a design that's not someone elses, but lets also say you're not very known. You might get views. But what people like to do is to take atvantage of that. They could easily take your design, draw it, and post it as their own.
YOU: Oh, I'll be able to find them on this site
SOL: Thats where your wrong. You see, people like this are experienced in theft. They could be more unknown than you, so how would you find them? And in most cases, they post them on other sites and you wouldn't even know it. In fact, they could have taken your design already, and are on some porn website where you would never look. So how do you keep your designs safe? Well, there will never be a sure way your designs won't be stolen unless you don't post it at all. So what I would suggest, is that you post your designs in a group. That way, more people will see that you made it, and who knows, they might buy it
#2: So you decided to keep reading. Good. I've told you so far ways to keep your stuff safe. So now, lets talk about the money. Step 1, don't do ANYTHING until you have a decent art style. People tend to click on things with good art quality. So if you post something that looks like you drew it with your left hand ( unless your left handed) with your eyes shut, they'll label you as a noob and move on. If you can't draw as well, then either hire someone to draw it for you, or get free-to-use lineart. Step 2. Make your designs look unique, but not to complicated. So don't just make a black cat. Unless your someone very famous and make there art look good all the time, don't ever do something too simple. Like a black cat. Because it may look awesome when they draw it, but in reality, IT'S JUST A BLACK CAT! You'll be very disappointed that you wasted your money on a design so simple, that you could have done it. So don't do it too your buyers. Step 3. Don't over price your stuff because unless it's really, really good, you won't sell it. ESPECIALLY if it's your first one, and your new.
So basically, thats all I have. I will be posting more journals like this. Until then, I hope you sell.
