I'm not remotely involved with DA, so I can't really say whether it applies more or less to FA... but I'll definitely say that I've noticed everything mentioned in that article on FA. Of course, to some degree, what happens in these large communities is human nature. Question is, how can the system help to combat that, and is the system encouraging it? The article makes a good argument that the system as it is encourages it and that things could use a hell of an overhaul. I think I'm inclined to agree after reading it over and thinking about it. Doubt such changes will ever come, but aw well.
