Robin Williams
I'm hit hard like a lot of people are about learning about Robin Williams' death, he was probably among by favorite comedians I didn't expect him to go for at least another 20 years, though every famous person I knew seems to be dying on me lately, which is kind of distressing in of itself. Distressing in that, he was the same age my dad is right now!
I don't know about anyone else though, but I had a sense that something was not well with Williams. The last two things I remember seeing him in was Old Dogs and an episode of The Crazy Ones, a couple of critical flops where as an actor Robin Williams seemed exhausted and maybe a bit jaded. You know what I mean, depressed? It's like he didn't want to be in the roles he was in. It's like I can sense when a comedian is going through a bit of sad clown syndrome sometimes.

Good Morning Vietnam came out not long before I was due to be processed for the Army.
I blame the decision on joing the Army from the 1981 movie Stripes, and after seeing Good Morning Vietnam, was having second thoughts but I had already signed the paperwork, took the oath, and had my orders.
In retrospect, im glad I served my time irregardless.
I do know that Mr Williams was not of the same political side of the right and what that brings, but he was on tour with the USO often and had great respect for our troops that were deployed overseas.
i sensed that with Chris Farley too. but more like, he played the frustrated, hapless idiot roles.. a little TOO well.
