Fluff-Kevlar commissions - no more waitlist, How-to's, etc
11 years ago
I've decided to clear that waitlist at the foot of my journal.
I so rarely open for commissions it seems (heck, last time I did it was October last year...) that having a waitlist just seems ridiculous, it's also a big hassle and a blight on my page, personally. It'll just be easier to submit your interest and idea when I open for them via journal, speaking of which...
How to Commission Me
I will open with a journal. Maybe on other sites, too. The journal will remain up for a while, usually a few days. It'll be in the title. I'll provide a sheet or link to examples to use as estimates.
Keyword is estimates, you'll E-MAIL me, including:
The type of commission, as listed by name/example on my commissions page.
Number of characters.
Rating: G-X
Background: something specific(simplified, no extra cost), something specific but detailed(extra), or none.
Description and references.
From there, I'll go through and pick the submissions and respond via email with an official quote. Notes suck. I don't like them for commissions.
I am not open at the moment just giving you guys a heads-up that there is no wait list, and that when I open it won't be first-come-first-served. I plan to open up some soon. Thanks!

Get a bunch of willing clients, and then randomly pick which ones are chosen for the month. I know a few big-league artists doing that way. ^^
I've got to be honest with you, that's a little discouraging to me personally, since I've been interested to get at least 1-2 commissions from you for some time now since the start of the year. I've been prepared with a couple of commission ideas w/details & refs to submit in the case of whenever slots open again...but now I'm a bit apprehensive in the chance that I'd get turned down because the idea and characters in mind don't appeal enough due to various factors (content/subject matter, species of character(s), action/situation, etc.).
Maybe what could help increase chances for people to be accepted for commission slots would be something like posting a chart/list of "likes/dislikes" regarding content you would draw in your art? Categories such as "What I like drawing most", "What I'm willing to draw", "What I won't draw", etc. For example,
I don't mean to say any of this to be disrespectful in any way, but if I've come off that way, I apologize. Whatever you decide to go with regarding how you'll go about taking on commissions, it's your decision in the end and I'll respect it.
Thank you for clearing up the concerns I had earlier, I do appreciate it! And I apologize once again...I'm kind of a detail-oriented person in general; when it comes to commissions especially, I get cautious in making sure that enough specifics are laid out that I understand what I'm getting for how much and how to go about it. ;^_^
It appears to me that Fluff has covered, in the journal comments, just about everything - except one...
It's not really clear to me what the reject process looks like to a Commissioner. I am assuming the Commissioner submits an idea and a week later he/she gets an email saying 'try again some other time'?
The acceptance process appears to be pretty straight forward.
