Species ruminations

"I have to ask you the same question people back home are asking about space these days. Is it worth it? Should we just pull back? Forget the whole thing as a bad idea, and take care of our own problems, at home."
Sort of a follow-up to http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/321474/
Well a year later, and still basically the same. I've barely been on SL though since about May last year probably(I blame WoW). It still "wears" comfortably, and in fact I updated the anthro version not that long ago to get closer to what looked and moved right. It's kinda hard to dance if your neck suddenly goes flying at right angles to the rest of your body. :P I also used the last image I had gotten as partial basis too, in a sort of feedback loop getting closer to what I wanted. The feral form I still haven't had any reason to change, though for a while at Christmas I did wear a scarf and flight goggles, because the idea of an aviator dragon amused me. X3
One of the times I was on, someone commented I didn't seem very foxlike(I was in anthro form at the time) until I pointed out the shapes. The one who asked was apparently a wolf/dragon hybrid, which brings up something I've noticed.
Foxes, dragons, wolves are all pretty popular choices for one reason or another. (My reasons for my choices are in my linked jounral above.) Crossbreeds between the two seem mildly common among the hybrids as well. 95% of them though that I see tend to be the following(at least the draconic ones):
Take fox/wolf/whatever. Glue on horns and wings, maybe patches of scales here and there. Instant x/dragon.
Because of this I initially described myself as a fox-like dragon when I first put it all together. While I don't really do that anymore, the way I've described it is where a lot of people go for chunky blend, I hit "frappe" on the blender. One thing I've always strove towards is something that's really a 50%/50% blending elements of both, without looking like someone played with species traits like legos. I'd like to think I've nailed that finally(or gotten pretty damn close) with the commission I got a while back(apart from the eartufts being off). I've considered trying to come up with a species name(like kayeers or chakats) but I think it's easier if I just say foxdragon and let people make of it what they will.
The other thing I've been worried about a couple times is being confused with an Eastern dragon. They're already fairly canine to begin with, but where they have fur, I have scales. Having western-dragon-style horns rather than "antler-type" horns helps with the distinction too, probably.
Oh, and if anyone wants to break their brain, think on this: how does someone with the normal large dragon wings on anthro hybrids(including me XP) wear jackets or shirts? (Without shapeshifting on the part of the wearer or clothing)
