I do believe it's time for a free commission! And more swag

Another Scud-pdate. IF you want some cool exclusive art, to help out an artists best friend, and a good shot at winning one or more fancy full detail commissions check the link in the header ^^^ Costs virtually nothing to play, everybody gets art! Even two bucks gets ya the clean and sexy version of an exclusive desktop but most importantly, it puts me a bit closer to saving my little guy's life and he's running out of time. 6 bucks gets you all the desktops and 10 bucks gets you all there is to get and ten shots at a free commission i normally charge about 120 bucks for.
So 48 hours in and I'm at 10% of my rough but fairly lofty goal. This goal will at least get him through the surgery and hopefully cover at least some of the follow up meds. But at this rate if this keeps going this thing will be funded in no time and he'll get a long happy life.
All I gotta say is that whether you played cuz you want the "free" art or my commissions were a bit above your budget and you hope to win one of them, whether you love animals or you wanted to just help out an artist that's been providing you with free smut for the better of a decade, I am DEEPLY moved that any of you, let alone several of you would participate in this. You people are wonderful and I take back some of the horrible things I say every day about you behind your backs! Everybody is wishing me luck on this though and again, i'm seriously moved by the support.
But, I think this is a good time to give away the first of hopefully many free commissions as well as the first special drawing to win one of the originals signed by me and my man Scud himself. I'd like you, the players or interested party's opinions on how to go about this.
My initial idea was to make it fun and silly, and thank you in person. That you're willing to do this makes me down to give up my precious anonymity to meet ya cuz it would be weird talking to nobody on camera. Maybe a live web cast/google hangout, chat a bit, let you meet me and meet the ferret himself, stick some tape on his harness and let him frolic around in a box of tickets to draw the winners himself, then hang out for a bit, drink a good beer chat and maybe stream some commission shading/drawing for a bit.
It's a silly idea but it could be a lot of fun and ive always been curious about trying out a livestream of some kind.
If nobody cares, i can just film the drawing and make a cute little gif of it and post it here to announce the winners. But do please let me know if you would like to do that, would probably schedule it for a saturday afternoon or evening, maybe a sunday.
Also, I've decided to keep producing stuff for this but to make sure my commissioners know that i'm back to regularly scheduled commission work and i'll be posting some stuff fairly soon.
But, i think in my spare time i'll work on a few things, maybe some more desktops a bit more refined (I was out of paper on those so they're a bit smaller than i normally work.). Everybody who's played will get them free on the tier of the ladder they already played so no need to double dip (I got nothing against double dipping though, just sayin >.>). Also planning a pic that is definitley gonna be uncharted waters for me that i hope will motivate a few people.
So keep an eye out here for the additional stuff, and let me know if you'de be up for a fun but brief gathering, grab a beer, see some art (maybe, no idea how i'd stream traditional art since my nose is usually like inches from the paper.)
Thanks again guys!

Hahaha....wait, only some!? :P
Glad to hear it's going well so far, really wish I could have donated more.
I think a stream could be good fun but either way we gotta see the wee guy doing the drawing :D
And man, don't worry about donating more. Sortof the point of this is that I was hoping that a reasonable amount of my watchers would be interested and spend a few bucks to buy the art and enter the raffle. 2 to 6 bucks is just fine for this.
Problem is i don't think even a tenth of my watchers know about this.
True, heck if every one of your watchers donated just 45 cents you'd already be past the goal.
Not always easy to get the word out there sadly.
It really hasn't played out like that. Average amount played is about 10 bucks which gets you in on all the extras. Had a couple generous 40 and 50 dollar purchases and a few as low as 4. I actually haven't sold a single one of the lowest tier packages so far. Not one person has gone for the 2 bucks lol which is a surprise.
While this isn't turning out as I anticipated, it's not exactly a failure and it gives me hope of saving the little guy. I plan to do what i can to sweeten the deal and hopefully not too obnoxiously keep this as an ongoing effort. I don't care if i gotta keep it up for a month or two.
I WILL say it's a tad disheartening that i can offer a free 35 dollar sketch in exchange for a horror movie recommendation and get over 300 comments in a day, always have a line of people waiting to drop 120 to 400 bucks on a commission, have my originals go for up to almost 700 bucks on furbuy yet hardly get anybody interested in buying a piece of art for 2 bucks lol and a shot at a commission. Funny how that works out.
Plus there's the raffle. I'm really surprised more people haven't gone for it.
Just gotta remain positive I guess, I'm sure you'll get there soon enough.
I was thinking about that myself actually, when you see some of the things people ask money for (heh not naming any names of course) and realise it's basically just greed and laziness.
People who could save up for something which is basically non-essential but instead will try and mooch off others because they somehow feel entitled to it.
Then you have people who need money for medical bills and such but because they don't have a million watchers no-one cares.
But I suppose that's just things work.
Yeah, definitely not my style. If there's one thing that disgusts me is all the artists on here who seem to basically use their watchers as a bank account, offering....certain pre drawn things with minor deviations and commissions that REMOVE options yet somehow bring in more money, i've never cared for some of the more exploitative seeming things I see a lot of artists do.
At the same time, if there's a demand, people want it, and they feel good buying it so more power to them I guess. I just don't get some of it.
That said, I got a half drawn personal pic I might convert to a YCH and see what happens >_>
I actually quite like them myself as often times I can't really think of any interesting ideas or poses but see one in a YCH.
Though it is silly how high some of them go. Generally speaking if it goes past the price I'd pay as a normal commissioner then I'm done.
I've actually seen more than one artist do like a tiered thing where it was say $20 sketch, $40 inks, $60 flats etc and when I looked at their regular commission prices, commissions which were open I might add, the YCH was double ¬_¬
I'm also not a fan of the "Must be this species, gender, body type" things, cos yeah at that point I'm basically just paying someone to draw something they clearly already wanted to do. Well, the exception being newbie artists who are clearly only comfortable drawing a few species.
It's different when you know someone has the skill to draw anything from an anteater to a zebra but is too lazy to change a sketch from a typical canine snout or whatever.
Nah, I meant stuff like "Buy me a new tablet and I'll give you a sticker you can use to advertise how cool I am!" >.>
I dunno maybe it is different but I'm no artist but over the years I've purchased hundreds of commissions that people watching me get to enjoy for free, but there's no way in hell I could ever ask anyone who watches me to just donate money to buy me something I didn't need but artists seem to get a free pass on it.
Of course on the flipside no-one is ever forced to donate anything to anyone, that's why they are donations. I might not approve of certain people's YCH pricing or their asking of money for non-essentials but that also doesn't make them inherently wrong to do so.
The lack of thinking of ideas and also just getting turned on seeing the image and thinking "Yeah id' like to be there.", so it does make sense.
I might give it a shot. Shit, in like 90% of my commissions people want to be with one of my males anyways.
Haha well can you blame them? :P
I would also love to see the actual drawing with the dooker, but if you're streaming it then I may just end up missing it entirely due to timing and whatnot. Maybe have the drawing as a livestream and then a gif for those that missed it, and the winner have the option to hang with ya if they'd like.
