despite what some people have said, it really is quite good, isn't it? =) if you want another anime similar to it (bit different, but along the same line of mmo world gone rogue), check out Log Horizon ^^

It's quite dark. But I found it quite fun and I really got invested in the characters. Ending of the first arc was a little weak in my mind, but that is the only complaint I've had about the series so far.

Actually, one more complaint I had was the main antagonist of the first arc didn't really have his motivations explained very well outside of a "I wanted to create the world of my dreams" kinda spiel. But whatever. The voice-acting is great, the animation is phenomenal, and the drama is gripping and gut wrenching. I recommend it!

i'll agree, the whole "control the world he created" thing was a bit odd, but yeah, everything else, the sense of how various groups of people would act in such situations....pretty wild ^^;; i've read some through the translated graphic novels the series is based on, but nothing beats seeing the stuff animated ^^

I love Sword Art Online lol. Been watching Sword Art Online II lately.

I would also recommend Accel World. It's cannon with Sword Art Online.

I saw Sword Art: Online when I had DishTV last year, but have since forgotten much of the season ending except that an entrenched character dies and the story indicates a relation to a bedbound hospital patient. That was sad.

It's a dark story. But I'm a sucker for drama and good old fashioned "hero saves the day" kinda stuff.
