What degree should I get?
this is a serious question, and I'd like serious, helpful answers if possible.
After talking to my mom and realizing that she would allow me to go get an art degree if I want, I now have to figure out WHAT art degree to get.
I know I want to do something along the lines of character designs, production sketches, or even book illustrations. What degree would give me the education/diploma/expertise needed to get into that field?
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out with figuring this out. I don't want to mess it up and waste another 2 years in school for something I don't actually want or need.

I've self-trained myself up to now. The art you see on my page has been from years nad years of learning on my own with little to no help from any actual education. Never took art classes in high school (mom mad me take stupid home ec type things) so really, I look at my older stuff adn how much I've improved just on learning on my own, and I know if I get an actual education and are taught art for real that I'll probably (hopefully) skyrocket a good deal :3
At least, a girl can dream? haha.
I dunno what the difference b/w applied arts and fine arts is, but in this program, the classes include computer studies, painting, object drawing, life drawing, conceptual process, and basic design. This course sounds like what you are looking for... But it's probably not that different....
