Holy shit running nonstop for two miles....
Is like the hardest thing ever. Today was day 2 and I shaved 3 minutes off of my time which is awesome...but now I feel like I am dying which is bad. I did the two miles in 20 minutes which isn't bad for starting the year off, but my goal is to hit the army standard range of 13 to 15 minutes max.
I need to speed it up! But for now I think I am good. Awesome thing is that I have a dorm mate of mine 2 doors down that is in ROTC so I think I may ask him to keep my ass in gear and workout with him on the off days that I am not running.
My goal isn't for me to get all army tough and what not, but I do want to get stronger and have a lot more endurance.
Goals for the end of the year: Run (instead of a fast paced jog) Two and a half miles non-stop and get to the point where I can run the 5k run in the Summer. And to tone up my abs a bit more. Because most of your body movements are supported by the core.

We can both do our best! I recently accomplished the same thing! And I've been focusing on trying to get my one mile time down even lower. I'm gettin' in under 9:00 minute miles which is really good considering how fat I am. X3 Good luck and keep up the good work!

KC, as a current soldier, I recommend starting with a nice warm-up stretch before doing the running, it'll loosen your muscles and ease the fatigue on your legs over time. Also, run on a schedule, as being lax in your running amounts will make your body naturally prep itself for a haul. Oh, and wear heavy weight shoes/boots, to build up leg muscle as you do so. You'll find that you'll last longer afterwards in shoes.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I jog the quarter mile to the fitness center from my dorm as my warm up and do lunges before I run. Idk if I can run the indoor track they have with boots but I could always just run outside i guess X3
