Unable to access Skype: Anyone else having issues?

Hello, friends!
Off and on this past week, I've been having trouble accessing my Skype account. It's an old hotmail account that was ported over to Skype when Microsoft shut down MSN(Windows Live) Messenger and forced people to migrate their chat accounts to Skype. As far I can tell, the problem is within Skype itself, for the results are the same whether I try to access with my PC or my iPad.
Is anyone else suffering this problem? Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks for the advice. I am using the actual Skype client, yes =0)
