A Wee Bit Frustrated

At the risk of being accused again of 'begging for sympathy' or 'using FA as my private facebook', I just want to say...
It's really frustrating to see a family member that is so close to you battling with cancer, constant blood transfusions, and a hernia. >.< I'm used to remembering mom as being opinionated, strong, and yes, a bit bitchy at times, but seeing her constantly tired and in pain is just a real downer.

If I may, I happen to have a hernia, and I can say that I have it on the ropes, I rarely get any visits from it anymore!
For some reason, I didn't want to bring any attention to it, and have it checked, rather keep it a secret. When usually I'm not afraid to address problems.
Everything, especially things that doesn't seem to have a good explanation, happens for reasons.
I've done research on it, and though one shouldn't always believe what they read on the internet, its been suggested that surgery can create more discomfort and not fully heal you. That if you receive a hernia, its there to be fixed.
Its a hole not just in your body, but in your mind and soul. And I've even seen this for myself.
Although some claim they healed theirs with abdominal excercise, but I don't see it. I can see the concept, to strengthen and condense the weak muscle walls, but to build muscle- you need to must tear them, temporarily weakening them, that's what that oh so satisfying soreness is.
So what I've been doing on days that its active, I relax more than usual. Even when its not, I don't work myself very hard, just mostly some mild knife drills, and sessions striking on a wooden stake.
Another thing is I'm making sure I get at least 8 hours every night, I used to get only about 6 or so from taking care of the dogs when they were little and needed to go more, as well as get some alone time in the morning.
Meditation seems to be helping as well, stress will not help, in fact it can be very damaging on you.
Then there is also my diet, I've been eating more, and healthier foods. At least one fruit- usually an orange, and a salad a day, including lettuce, carrot shavings, and green onion, sometimes tomatoes. And Wishbone Italian dressing with Omega 3, and other oils designed to better absorb vitamins.
