So, even though I am not sure if anyone reads these or cares, I guess I should write a report about MFM.
First, in case people don't read any further, it was an awesome con like it always is, and you can bet that I will have to be dead to not go back next year.
That being said, I'll give a (un) quick breakdown.
I'll be honest when I say a lot of the weekend is a blur, not because I was drunk (I only had one sip of one person's drink), but because I just seemed to be on the go the whole time, so if I forget things or people please forgive me!
We (Timber and I) left our house about 8 AM Tuesday morning. After an uneventful drive, we made Birmingham, AL about lunch time, where we met up with my favorite munk, Tavi, for some sushi. Expensive, but yummy.
After lunch we headed almost straight north to Lawrenceburg, TN. There we visited PandaGuy's mom and spent the night. She has a pool so I got a little late night swim in. It was nice. She made us a nice breakfast, and we visited PG's grave and it was my idea to leave a tiger plush with him. So we did.
Then, on the road again for a few more hours until we hit Olive Branch, MS. (really just a suburb of Memphis, TN).
We stayed at a hotel about 5 min away from the MFM hotel, had a nice lunch at a BBQ place (Don't ask about my coleslaw incident, LOL) and then chilled out the rest of the day. Was hoping to meet up with other early-comers, but no dice.
Finally, Thursday morning, the con started (kinda). Timber and I made a quick Wal-Mart run, then we headed to the hotel. The caravan from St. Louis was late, so there was a lot of sitting around, hanging out with the people already there. I did play some Cards Against Humanity, but stupid Timber won. :P
So, when the con in a box got there, I helped a little bit, but mostly honestly I hung out with Tigeris and his little group from PA. It was SO nice to see him again. I only get to see him once, sometimes twice a year if I am lucky. It's tough having daddy living far away, it makes the times I see him all the more important and awesome and special.
Most of Thursday was spent hanging out, mostly in the three room suite that is the cub room. I went to Osaka and saw my Gamecocks lose their season opener, that was a bummer, but I got some awesome stuff for my birthday from Steelclaw and Brejar so that was awesome.
Stayed up late cause that derpy burr, my little bro Bedtime came in late. Then we went to Wal-Mart a second time, came back, and hung out a bit before going to bed.
Friday the con REALLY started. I was a bit busy, I had the fursuit meet and greet with Ocicat, then the open fursuit games. I was kinda left all alone by a person who was helping, so I was kinda in a bad mood for a while, alone and bored and stuck.
But the rest of the day was fun. Bedtime and I did a scavenger hunt that was pretty well received. Between those, and afterwards, i again mostly hung out with Tigeris and Bedtime and the other cubs.
Saturday was a blur. I had the fursuit parade, then the balloon toss I was going to do was cancelled for weather, then the milk and cookies meet, and then after a brief rest, the real fursuit games, which I think went over well. (and yes, I made a Wal-Mart run that day too)
For both the open games and the real games we had a pool filled with balls, so of course we had ALL the ball pit jokes, LOL.
Saturday night was a hangout in the cub room with movies and such. It was fun and once again we stayed up late.
Sunday was here before I knew it. I had no events except for the closing ceremonies, and the charity auction. I won some cool stuff in the charity auction, including some really neat Disney records. I kept my spending in the 2 digits (BARELY).
Sunday night was a more quiet, personal hangout in the cub room. we went to Wal-Mart (again) for a copy of Monopoly, as Diddy challenged Bedtime that he couldn't win. We never made an official count, but it looked like by the time we quit (as it was 2:30 AM) Bedtime was the winner, and I was probably in second. If I hadn't hit two spots that cost me over $500 each I prolly would have won but oh well.
Monday.. well.. it just sucked. Woe up super early, got packed, then went downstairs to the last staff meeting. After the meeting I had to pack up the fursuit games stuff. A certain lazy bear slept in and missed the meeting but thankfully came to help with the packing. He and the others who helped really saved my butt, as we really needed to leave ASAP to avoid rush hour in Atlanta, GA. (IT IS AWFUL!!!)
Finally I had to leave the last of the packing to Bedtime because Timber and I couldn't wait to leave any later. Except.. I couldn't find Tigeris to say good bye. There were several people frantically looking for him, as he has medical issues and he could have been having a problem. It turns out that he had a sour stomach after breakfast (with what they offered, I can understand) and he was laying down. I was glad that it was nothing worse.
I said my tearful goodbyes, found Timber, and we were off. I admit that I cried on the way home. I miss my friends very much.
We did, unfortunately hit Atlanta at rush hour, but our saving grace was the holiday, and the traffic was semi- bearable (even if I did have to drive through Atlanta in rush hour, dead tired, trying to keep my eyes open, AND in a bad rainstorm. I am still not sure how we made it).
So, that is the trip, in a very bug nutshell. I love my friends and I miss them and I am counting down the days till MFM 2015.
