Here's how my normal process works:

You provide the description of your character -- mucho preferably with visual references. I make 3 pencil sketches and let you choose the one that suits your fancy the best. Whichever you choose, I color.

And don't tell me $40 for color picture and 2 sketches is not a bargain :)

Turnaround is usually about 2 weeks.
