so in my late night wandering of the internet and my constant refreshing of my profile page to see if i had gotten any new messages and clicking of the home icon on tumblr with no new posts, i became super bored.
i went and started browsing the new submissions here on fa.
i noticed somebody posted a wip pic of an adult diaper they were making for their business.
my immediate thought was "uh.. weird.. :/" but i stopped myself and instead thought "ya know, i am so ignorant to this side of the fandom. i've seen cute art of people's baby fur characters and seen cute baby fur avatars on secondlife, but i dont get it."
i've never really researched that hobby/fetish because of the fetish side. it's NOT my cup of tea and i think it's pretty gross for adults with the total capability to get up and go use the toilet to soil themselves for the luls.
so i messaged the person who posted the wip pic asking "hey what's all this about? i want to be educated and not be so darn judgmental and ignorant!"
they were super kind to reply to me, explaining to me a good plenty about what sorts of reasons people have to be interested in acting out being small children.
i basically came away with this: baby furs/adult babies/diaper lovers are pretty similar to fursuiters, in the way that, yes, it CAN be about the fetishness of the act, but a lot of folks just wanna have fun.
like, i like to put on a cat costume and squeak at people for fun, others like to throw on a bib and a diaper and play with some toys on the floor for fun!
i think a lot of folks really dont like the baby furs because of the stereotype that it'll ALL fetish and sexual but we, as furries, deal with that same stigma all the time and we should be more open minded and accepting of eachother. we're all in this fandom together and we should try to blow away our ignorance and try to understand one another.
well, that's it, i suppose. just kinda wanted to share that i became a little wiser tonight and i feel pretty good about it.

But instead of raining on their parade and being a rude person, I don't voice my opinions regarding that kind of stuff. I just keep it to myself and remember that it doesn't affect me personally so there's no reason for me to tell them anything.
just let them do their thing, if thats what makes them happy and theyre not actually hurting anybody.
i can always just ignore it and go look at stuff i like.

I love learning to understand things I normally would think of as weird, in some cases I even
end up embracing that very thing. I can't say I'm into babyfurs (though I would totally draw lil' baby
furries because omg CUTE) but I figure since it's such a large following, there's clearly something about it that
appeals to a lot of people!
