Commission Status Update
General
So, I'm almost done with the commission queue I've been working on for the past 3 years. I will have Dragoneer's comic completed soon and posted on FA, and Tach has already confirmed his completion of the Kate comic. I'm sure that will make people happy, Kate gets a lot of favorites. It'll be a while before that one is done and posted; if anyone recalls, I only work on commissions on the weekends now.
But whether I open commissions again or not depends entirely on my job situation. Even though everyone now has their own health insurance, the government still can't decide if places like the one I work for can allow seasonal employees to return to full-time status. Right now I am only permitted 32 hours/week and with my wage, that's not nearly enough to live off of (which is why I live where I do, rent-free). However, within the next 1-2 years my partner and I have to find a way to make enough money to find a new place. Commissions only offer a little extra now and again, at best. So unless something changes, this is what I'm planning:
If my employer allows me to return to full-time next season (which starts in March) I will continue to take occasional commissions. I'd like to take a break from them for a bit first as I'm feeling more than a little burnt out, and I won't be making another queue like before, just one or two orders as time permits.
Conversely, if they will not give me 40 hours, I will either have to look for another full-time job that pays more (good luck with that) or more likely, take a second part-time job to fill in the days I don't work. In either case, I will not be taking commissions again. I can't say never ever, but not so long as that work scenario persists.
So I have no choice but to wait and work and probe other possibilities, of which there are dismally few. As for my side projects, I will get them done mostly because I don't like leaving loose ends untied. Without going into a whole tirade, I've been having feelings of frustration and resentment about my art in the past few months. This is the reason River's Journal is on hold; I just don't feel like working on it. It's different than artist's block this time.....maybe it'll work itself out, maybe I need a massive change. Only time will tell.
At any rate, thanks so much to everyone who stops to browse my tiny corner of the net, and my deepest gratitude to those who've been so supportive, now and since the beginning. I'm glad you like what you see :)

Again, thanks so much to everyone who has watched me this past month! *shakes paws*
When will there be more of this?
A word about my commissions: I get a lot of similar questions about the pictures I post here and on my site; people ask if I'm going to continue a certain comic series or take the project from line art to color in the near future. Please, read the description of the image; if it's listed as a "commission", that means someone paid me to draw it for them. I personally had nothing to do with the characters or what's happing in the picture/comic, I just drew what was described for me. If the person paid for 3 comic pages, we did 3. If they paid for line art only, that's what I did for them. I'm truly flattered that folks are so keen on these pieces, but it's not up to me in any way to make more for the set or scenario. If there is to be more added to a project, it's up to the person who bought it to commission more.
And in regard to making additions as a request instead of a commission, I regret that my financial situation will not allow me to take requests at this time. I can't even get my own projects done right now.

The key of course is to make yourself happy first, the rest doesn't really matter. If you resume art, you do what works for you. If you'd like to look into a job from me like the one I discussed with you a while back, you know I'd be good for a low stress do as you can sort of job, but that's up to you. I'd only want you to do it if you wanted. :)
Anyway, you take your time, and I do hope you find joy in your art again. :) It's so awesome the stars have to put on sunglasses. :)
