This elitist bullshit really needs to stop [rant mode]

I normally don't rant like this on FA often. If I rant, it's on FB. For those that don't know what elitism is, here's a definition
the advocacy or existence of an elite as a dominating element in a system or society.
Basically saying in this case, that because you think what your into is better, you believe most other things suck and with that, you feel you have to bring down whatever you believe sucks. People will even take this thought and think up a false reality that these lesser practices will ruin their community. For example
Bad fursuits will ruin the furry fandom
Sexual content will ruin the furry fandom
Trap music or commercial EDM will ruin the rave culture.
It's honestly stupid. But if you still have people that love what you think is better, then people will continue to love it. There is no need to be territorial.
Why is this a problem? Because it's tearing these communities apart. There is way too much warfare in the rave culture right now. People are fighting over which style of music belongs or not in these silly battles to where it's reflecting on even the events and the DJs. It curbs creativity.
With furries, you basically took a safe haven and now have people being alienated for who might have an obscure sexual orientation, who might not have the best art out there. Who gets tattoos, who has untraditional piercings, who was born with a disability, who goes transgender, who doesn't practice being a furry like you did 20 years ago because really, the fandom is what you make of it. I'm guilty of being slightly elitist over MLP fans. However just because I don't like the practice, doesn't mean I have to bash on it. Just don't be Jehovah's whiteness about it and we're cool :3
Look, I'm not saying everyone is like this. Remember, there are a TON of people out there, especially in the furry community that hang into the true values that makes this community so great. I've been lucky enough to associate myself with the right people to see little of this with my own friends. I'm an optimist. I don't think this is going to be a big issue, but let's not let it be a big issue. The biggest thing that makes us us is love. That's all we need. I love you guys, and I really mean it. You don't have to of course but as a community, at least show some common respect for one another.

Funny, I still see people going to raves.
I understood some people's concerns, but a good majority just...fuckin'a man. it's like talking to a brick wall
It's sad really; we're basically a house divided. It sucks more to be in the middle (like myself) and see people bitch about little things.
I'm well aware that I don't share certain interests that others might have, but the least we can do is tolerate (reasonably) and make the best of it
It's especially hurtful inside of the smaller communities (be it rave culture or the furry fandom) where we're already having to worry about a generally negative public stigma and we *need* that unity and acceptance internally so we really can put the best face forward externally. Oh, and nevermind the fact that all the bickering is just a waste of time, heh.
I'll admit, I'm not a fan of trap. But I realize that there are folks out there who are fans, and if some DJs or event organizers can tap that interest and draw a crowd, more power to them! That just makes for more enthusiasts for EDM in general, and you never know when someone who finds one genre will start to explore others. Just so long as I'm never expected to play it, ha ha ha.
What really gets my metaphorical goat is the general elitist DJ (or "superstar DJ") attitude. Isn't the focus supposed to be on the music and the experience instead of just one person? I would much rather play a show and have people walk away thinking about how great of a time they had and how many new friends they've made than remember my name (though it is nice if you can get both :P). If anything, the people who show up and dance are the superstars. :)
