Trying to find myself as an Artist...
These past few days I’ve been picking up the pencil and started drawing and coloring once again after several years of a drawing hiatus.
Lately however I’ve been trying to find myself when it comes to my artwork, that I need to find my “style” or “rhythm”. I think the main reason why is because when i used to do my older artwork I used to have this mentality that I wanted to draw “like this person”, or I wanted to draw “this style”. Now that I’m drawing again I need to throw all those thoughts out of the window and just do what i do. Sure its great to get inspiration from other artists who do more detailed work or coloring, but I’m not them and I shouldn't push myself to be like them. I wanna have fun when I draw and to have fun is to be happy with my own style of artwork. I’m actually thinking of taking art requests so I can do quick drawings and learn how to do things on my own without having to look at model references. I think also the biggest influence is also feedback on the artwork, an artists is his own worst critic, but with positive feedback that feeling can go away as long as the person is happy with the art requested.
