Help me plan for Fur the 'More gaming!
I'll probably do one of these every few months, and I'm not expecting everyone to FUCKING DROP EVERYTHING and swarm to them, but I really want your input. I know what I like to play, but if I'm running a game room, and I can do so, I want to have a better mix of what everyone wants.
So far we'll definitely have these
- some kind of Smash tournament, possible multiple -- depends on interest, who offers/MAKES SERIOUS EFFORT to run them
- lots of retro gaming -- I'll be bringing tons of old games, controllers, and CRTs
- RETRO RANDOM ROYALE -- in some modified form, went well last year and at Anthrocon
- Mario Kart 8 -- if at all possible, I know a few people who own it, might get a WiiU by then if I find one cheap
- Tetris Attack -- open to Pokemon Puzzle League as well, depending on feedback
- plenty of tabletop events -- Magic: the Gathering, a wide variety of other card and tabletop games
Is there anything in particular you'd like to see? Anything you know will be out between now and May? Is there anything you personally own that you'd enjoy setting up and playing alongside others? I'm not going to stroke my ego, if you had any issues with the game room last year, and there's anything you think would make it better this year, let me know (either in comment or in private) and I'll take it seriously. Input is important, and I'm a lot happier knowing I'm doing this for you guys, not just me. I could stay home and hang out in my room if I wanted to do that.
Please keep in mind that, if you have a newer console and would want to play a game specifically for that, we urge you to consider bringing yours. We'll take very good care of it, follow any specific instructions you have, and will definitely appreciate it and give it back when we're done. We're growing but don't have a large budget specifically for gaming, so we need a little help with costlier consoles and games.

I know you know your retro so I won't even suggest anything on that.
Mario Kart 8 is great, perhaps put a rotation system on both that and SSB so everyone gets a turn.
You'll have Rock Band, right?
Perhaps a part of the room dedicated to 3DS streetpassing and playing? Just a corner or a table or something.
Also, DDR WOULD BE AMAZING. I have Max, Max2, Extreme, Extreme2, and Supernova if you wanna borrow any BUT Stepmania would probably be best if possible.
I will absolutely have Rock Band.
There was a section of the room dedicated to Streetpassing this past year, but I feel like most people used it as a space for grabbing extra chairs they needed. I also had a power strip set up with a few 3DS chargers that people made use of.
DDR...I have mixed opinions on DDR. I think it works well in a very large room with a lot of air circulation, noise dampening (or at least lots of space between it and other games), and a healthy supply of Febreeze. It works well at Anthrocon for those reasons, but I'm wary of setting it up in anything smaller than their VG room. I've played it on and off for years, I do enjoy it in short sessions, but I know some people enjoy making a weekend out of it, and a few of them aren't conscious of the noise or smell. I have DDR (PS1) through X, as well as Ultramix 1-3, Hottest Party, and Universe 3, but it would depend on either borrowing the Anthrocon pads (which are sturdy) or someone lending me theirs (I'd prefer not to bring my RedOctanes, as they will die quickly, if convention playing has taught me anything). If we get enough people saying they plan to play it enough to warrant actually bringing it, and I visit the hotel and find we have enough space, that'd increase the chances.
