Yeah one of my friends told me the same thing as well, that it was mostly writer-oriented. Which is nice because I find fan-fic writers tend to get little to no attention most of the time.

Well it did start off as yiffstar, which was a totally writer orientated, not a picture to be seen. When they launched into SoFurry it became more friendly to all types.

Really? for me yiffstar was really picture orientated? Or so I've experienced. I never saw any writings on there.

Maybe they included pictures I'm kinda hazy about it since it was a good while ago. I do remember a time when submitted artwork seemed to increase, but when I first joined, Yiffstar was primarily for stories. Their slogan, I'm sure, had the phrase 'for writers' in it. Don't remember the exact slogan. Maybe there was always pictures there, maybe they were added sometime later, but one thing I do know is that there were considerably more stories than pictures, which when you consider the current climate on both sites with the number of pics being made far outstripping the number of stories suggests that the site did start off primarily as a story site.

If you'd want a more accurate timeline of events you'd probably have to talk to Toumal over on SF, he was running the place back when I first joined and still is from what I can tell.

I know that before I got my own computer back in 2008 I would browse the site using my PS3, I know I was limited to what I could access/display via the PS3, so maybe it only allowed access to the stories on the site and was unable to display pictures. I browsed the site for the best part of a year on my PS3 before getting my laptop and making a profile on SF. So I've been in the Fandom for pretty much 7-8 years now and was first introduced to it via Yiffstar.

I might still upload from time to time if I do decide to go, and it's nice to know that there are those who would miss my presence around here ^^. I think I mostly just need a break from everything and need a fresh start.

True. But from what I've heard zoophiles run free there, just like IB is for the pedos...
At least it used to be like that. Also, since the community is smaller than on FA people only care for drawn art, but music or written art.

I wouldn't bother leaving FA. Just get an account over there and try it out. I think it's a good site and the admins are really helpful and nice there. My only complaint is their layout is a little too cluttered. They, like FA, have been talking about a new version of the site coming soon, so when that gets released, it might look a lot better.

Oh dear lord I'm so glad I wasn't the only one thinking that XD. I agree that at first sight the domain is rather... overwhelming. It's very nice looking but I actually notice a bit of lag on the front page, but that's hardly a deal breaker I think. As for not leaving FA, I'm really on the fence about it. More or less once you've put a good few years into an account it IS hard to just pack up and leave XD! Maybe you're right, a break might be all thats necessary for the time being.

I tend to get into slumps that just feel soul-crushing at times and want to fly away XD! But thanks for the input, it's very much appreciated ^^.

Yeah, just take a break from FA if you need to. Much easier returning to a dormant account, than having to re-upload everything should you decide to come back.

I tried doing it once, it doesn't work out quite well and plus I havent been able to get back into my account for over a year now. I wouldn't bother with leaving FA.

You could do both, unless time is a major factor. I do both and I get interest on both. I find Sofurry users more responsive to leaving comments, but my watcher list grows faster here, since there are more users. But if more artists are posting stuff on Sofurry then it stands to reason that over time that site will become busier and busier.

But you may not like it, but Sofurry has a lot more features and options making it a much better site in my opinion, although I was there first and I found FA to be a little too simple in comparison when I started using it; but I got used to it. The SF admin are constantly updating the site to make it user friendly and they are very friendly and responsive from my experience. FA simply has the advantage in the number of ppl using the site.

Yeah I gathered that from what I've seen. FA seems to just be the main central furry hub, and despite it's simple setup it does function quite well as a standard image uploading site. Though now having browsed through SoFurry's list of features, options and so on, I'm already beginning to see a lot more appeal. I tried Weasyl too, but unfortunately that site just felt... Boring XD. Thanks so much for the info, and I'll probably leave my FA open for the time being, it's just such a hassle to have to manage uploads and everything else for two separate sites.

Plus I notice they have achievements. Achievements. This pleases me in ways it shouldn't XD!

Yeah that was a nifty little addition I must admit. lol. If you do move make sure to add it to your profile info so folks like me can quickly follow you over. They do have a slot where you can enter that info just like your facebook/PSN/etc... names.

That is pretty cool. Sucks that you don't get much feedback over here. You have to practically ask directly.

It'd be up to your really. I have an account over there too (though I haven't been on it in forever and a day.) If you do decide to go I just ask that you link over your account so I can follow you there so I can keep up with you still.

I never change my username so if you're ever looking me up just always try Nialus XD, I like to keep it simple for others! But I'm happy you'd still like to check out my stuff from time to time ^^. Might post a journal with the link to the new account once I create it and get settled in.
