Have I Been Wrong All This Time? From My Knowledge This Is The Meaning Of These Words When Pertaining To Art.
Requests: When Someone Asks You To Make Something For Them (For Free).
Trades: When You Make Something For Someone And They Make Something For You In Return.
Commissions: When Someone Pays You (With Real Money [Paypal Or Mail]) To Make Something For Them.
Point Commissions: When Someone Pays You (With Da Points) To Make Something For Them.
Kiribans: Rewarding People Who Catch Your Important Pageviews Or Other Milestones
Exchanges: When You Give A Artist Something That Isn't Money Or Points That's Of Use Or Value For A Art Piece.
In All These Scenarios You Must Credit The Artist/Artists That Worked On The Pic Regardless Of How Much Or Little Effort Was Contributed.
Is This Information All Correct? Do You Always Need Permission To Post Something If It Was Made For You Or If It Contains Your Creations Or Characters? I've Had 3 Artists Contact Me Regarding This And They Seemed Upset That I Didn't Ask Permission For Art That Was Made For Me And Contained My Characters Even When On All Counts They Were Given Credit.

In the other case also it would be another matter of respect to ask if it's okay to post their work of you. Some artists operate under extreme restrictions and actually wouldn't want their art to be posted. I've had my butt burned by that before. So that's also a matter I'd suggest making sure it's okay to post before actually posting your work. Paid for or not, free or not it's just a common courtesy to the artist.
