Every now and then I hear people talkin' about how they're tired of the fandom, and... I can see it. No one should LIVE, 24/7 in a particular hobby; it's okay to just step back and stop feeling compelled to be here for a little while, but don't make any big, dramatic decisions like "I'm QUITTING the fandom!" or even "I'm taking a BREAK." Just, you know, step back and go do some other stuff for a while, so it'll be no big deal when you do become interested in the furry thing again.

This, this, this, EXACTLY. Word-for-word, right out of my mouth.

Honestly, it's why I take unspoken vacations off of FA every so often. Just because a week or two to myself feels REALLY REALLY good. Oh my god. It's just so relaxing and rejuvenating, and it really cuts down on some of the emotional drain from time to time.

People think because you're prominent in art you're trying to hard to be popular, or trying to buy popularity when in many cases the art is of personal significance.

Anyone who treats you like that is mearly jealous of all the great pieces you get. Don't let their jealousy get you down, there are those of us still here that enjoy what you have to share. You were one of the first few of whom caught my interest in the furry fandom and it would really suck to see you go.

It happens. You're in one of those moments where you need to just step back from the thing that you used to love. Step back and stay from it until you feel like you can love it again. If anyone anywhere managed to cling to just one thing for their whole lives then they'd be insane. Insane and Shallow.

Give yourself some space to breathe and come back. If you still don't like it... well, what you do from there is your decision.

Agreed. The value of most relationships set in here is very minute that I see it. I look around and see much wonderful people, but as I delve in; People who give no second chances. Always expecting the worst, and will only think of the worst. People who can't understand the concept of a true friendship. You can barely call anyone in her, people. Entities, I call them.

I remember when many sayings like, "You only get one chance to make a good first impression," Was about the close minded and often discouraging nature of many people of notoriety. Now it's a bloated statement we follow to make ourselves look stern. Look tough and fill ourselves with more pride.

Being blunt. I remember when Blunt used to mean a straightforward person; a person you can trust and look to. A stern person who stands his ground. Now what does it mean? a person who mouths off everyone, compare sticks about who was the most miserable to marginalize others, then leave them on the side of the road to die. That is what Blunt now means, and they're used by some of the most self centered, paper skinned losers.

Yeah, I agree with others that you might wanna take a break, hun. I've certainly had to do so several times, sometimes for months. Certain aspects of the community can really get on your last nerve. I'd hate to see ya leave entirely though. ^_^;

I think what it ultimately boils down to is this:

So in short, they just jelly. Though as others have pointed out taking a breather fron the fandom is healthy if you feel stressed.

I'm sorry you had such bad experiences and I'm also sorry, there is nothing more I can do or say.

I've kept my involvement in the Furry Fandom more on the fringe and local for a number of reasons.

At the moment my opinion on humans in general is rather low like always at this kind of year. You see, we have our local version of the Oktoberfest. Actually in Germany our Volksfest is second in size only to the Oktoberfest. Sadly that means I see people getting drunk on the way there because alcohol is very expensive at it. And really drunk people leaving it. The giggling, shouting, rowdy behaviour and among other things the smell of alcohol in the public transport is getting on my nerves. And it's been going for 1,5 days. As always it's going to be long three weeks.

See, that's what I never get about some other people. I played Minecraft with you for months, and you were always wonderful, sweet, and helpful everystep of the way. And you always said hello, too, which is lovely! It's the little things that matter! And we first started talking a bit when you were giving out that whole list of Steam games to people, just because. That was exceptionally wonderful of you, and it was mostly to make sure they found their way into someone's hands, made them happy, and it was a nice conversation starter, too!

Seriously, I never understand why people sling around "popufur" around like an insult all of the time. Some of us do like just to make those we come across have a nice day whenever we can. Hell, even still if I have a free 30 minutes and I come across someone interesting and fun on FA and the mood strikes me, I'll make them an icon or whip up something nice for them just for shiggles. And, like you, sometimes I get flack for it.

Honestly, if some people don't like what we do when we're just trying to be friendly? Sucks to be them and so upset about it, really! And if people don't like the art we commission and upload? They can happily unwatch, if they so choose!

But, yeah, so sorry to hear about all of that. It can be really rough. o.o

You know...when I see a person I follow get to this point, it reminds me of how even I would not be here if not for them - even if being here was for my choice first and foremost. Enduring for something better and surviving the harshness, indeed, can seem regretful. Yet you did speak out, and that is a good sign. So I'd hope that this precipice of dismay wouldn't take away from another chance to hear from you or your feelings again.

I'd tack on my two cents about things of this matter, but honestly it's just not worth it for me to chime in as well. I'm here to post things I create (or commission), and admire the creations of others. I have yet to make a friend through FA; everyone I met came through chat or SecondLife and such and then we watched each other here.

I wish I could make some friends at all here; people seem to only like me for my porn.

It's fine I guess. Some friends aren't worth keeping, this is only normal. Even in real life I have childhood friends that don't even bother with me anymore. The person who was my best friend in the world when I was 10 is someone I barely see anymore; we grow apart.

Here is the key thing; don't paint groups of people with broad brushes. Don't lump the entire fandom together into a single person. We're not all the same and that diversity is healthy but not always positive. Eventually good people come your way and bonds are formed and then some bonds are broken.

Just rambling a little and I'm not really focused, it's late for me; But that's what I believe.

I say Fernis is pretty spot on. Seriously the 'Fandom' isn't something to spend a lot of to large amounts of time in, even in the terms of just something to get your system worked out. The new people or jealous ones are gonna speak too loudly to try and weed there way into attention by the negative means, and you can either accept that your gonna hear a lot of them when you hope for others, or that your gonna be poking around corners possibly looking into some others to talk to. Sometimes you have to settle for just keeping bit of a semi small circle. Making a nice evenly checked gates for other people that look/sound like good people to talk to, and maybe even getting an idea on how they would contact you, or vice versa. Some people wait to be contacted, some others are quick to the draw, you have to sacrifice sometimes to make the connection, but when you find the real friends they should be the ones to remember and keep you same weither your in or spending time away from anything. It's not always the fandom, it's a lot of times what your doing and who your paying you mind to in it.

Thankfully the furry fandom is far bigger than FA.

If you are feeling that the air around this website is too recycled to get away from the clamor of the usual highschool-esque voices, it might be time for a break. Or to just par back your participation wih the place (assuming much of these issues are nested in interactions on FurAffinity, as seems to be the case for a lot of people these days).

The loud, vocal minority tend to obscure those of us who don't give a damn about peoples' commissions or status and are more than happy to just meet a smiling face. So do keep that in mind too; don't let a bunch of noisy whiners who don't know you from a lawn chair--or folk who unfortunately have their own skewed view of what friendship is--color your perception of a fandom with hundreds of thousands--if not millions by now--of active and diverse people.

I think it kind of is a vicious cycle, the types exist who do try to force popularity and refuse any criticism, and regular people call them on it, then the judgemental start accusing everybody else of the same sort of crimes; and it becomes impossible to tell at a glance who is the jerk and who is the bystander... and of course most people don't care enough to look any further.

Even if you calm down a lot in the community, plenty of people who don't usually speak up (like myself) like your art; and for my two cents I've never thought of you as either of those things.

There will always be jerks, no matter where you are... but when you put yourself "out there" things can feel much more significant... but the good can feel more significant too. Hopefully, you can find more good.

I'm sorry to hear how people in the community have been treating you these days, but I can say most are better than that. Take a breather, step away from things, and if you want to chat, I'm here nearly 24/7

Mmm, well I don't know all about this drama stuff, but you should try not to let it get to you. There will always be trolls and tards that bring drama and stupidity everywhere they go. Just be yourself, and know that some of us appreciate what you share. I'd like to see you stick around, and see more art, I've always enjoyed your sexy self and the themes of your art. I know you're a kind and caring person so I hope you can shrug off the douches and still be happy.

People lash out when they're jealous. It's..part of human nature, particularly when they're immature. There are a lot of people here who don't fall under that category though, and you can see it in the comments. I hope you stick around, and that things change going forward. You spend your money on what you want to, and no one has any right to criticize you for it. We all have different things we value, y'know? If it's our own time, money, effort, feelings...all that matters is that we want to put it towards something. Someone disagreeing with us is irrelevant. Don't let the people who take issue with you get you down, alright? You're worth more than that.
