Just curious

So I've been talking to someone about some old stories I wrote, and it got me wondering.
Am I the only one who has a story/art they're incredibly proud of, which have "bombed" in terms of popularity? This isn't me saying anything dramatic, I'm just curious! I find my best work is the stuff I find myself truly invested in, and usually that leads to a fair amount of success in regards to views/favs/comments, but I've got at least 2 stories--one of which, I believe, is probably my best piece of writing--that've struggled to get much attention.
Just me? Or do you guys have stories to share about this as well? :)
Oh, and for the curious, I'm talking about:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10228054/ -- It's not brilliant writing, but I've always enjoyed this story. I've always liked the hinted-at relationship between Zato & Ichi, and the urge to write more about them has been strong for... well... since I wrote this first one! As an aside, I believe I'll be visiting this continuity again soon in a smaller format (details coming closer to the end of October)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10830423/ -- This, in my opinion, is one of the best things I've ever written in a literary sense... at least in terms of my furry writing. Some of my human stuff I appreciate more, but the 1st person narrative interspersed with journal entries really came together well I think. However, the master/slave romance between Severus & Ionius amidst their desperate retreat from the picts--er--foxes is one of my favourite character interactions. I'll be honest, its always been a bit of a sore spot for me that this story wasn't received more favourably... or at least in a noticeable way. It's struggling towards 200 views after over a year.
I want to write more about them... I think it's about time Ionius mount his rescue....

It took a long time but I was able to get it done and using other people's characters and placing them in my own world, I was nervous about making their OC's shine as best I could. But it all worked out and they absolutely loved it. And yes I also find myself probing your gallery for the fight stories that end in snuff and unleashing huge loads. It seems like that's why most people watch for the art or specific things. I have some Spyro fanfics that have more views than any of my works simply cause of the purple dragon. I even get notes asking when the next story will be. Another story with a piece of art a friend did for me that involved another FA user and I think it has the most comments.

But overall I'm proud of my work, it could be better but I'm satisfied. I'll also take a look at the two you got up there.
If I were in this to become a popufur (I joke that I am, but I'm writing the wrong material to manage that ;) ), I'd be writing pokemon vore all the time; vore will get you views, pokemon will get you views, and MLP will get you views. Period.
Heck, I think the most 'popular' thing I've had to date was the reference sheet that a friend got for me with something like a hundred views and a dozen favorites, though if I go 'by proxy' through an artist friend of mine (this; http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12252730/ ) well... I guess I'm a little more popular, still, nothing in the terms of most of the people I watch, who rack up a thousand views in the first day of submitting something.
Still, I'm glad your making tracks, I wonder what your next story's going to be like.
For myself I do have work like that. I know exactly what caused my lack of interest, though - it was WoW smut on FA. The few people who did read it responded favorably and it was good subject material - apparently femdom is rare as hell and quite popular so it easily gets people's attention - but it really didn't fit the site, so I eventually took it down. I intend to repost it elsewhere someday. There's a site I used to frequent a ton that is for folks wanting to RP/eRP in game settings, and 90% of the traffic is WoW, so I'll post it there.
I also definitely love it when people re-post my commissions in their galleries, but there's a fine line between it being an act of good will on their part, and me being a bastard for "dropping hints" about it too much, haha.
And cool story about the WoW, I'm surprised there wasn't more of a market here for it. Orcs are growing more popular in dom/sub situations thanks to games like Warcraft, or at least I've noticed.
