We all know you like to say that kind of shit to get a rise out of people, though.

"Man, everyone knows I'm an asshole. If you can't hang with that, that's on you. I'm just too real to ever compromise or get all politically correct."

...and all the multitude of ways the above can be expressed. It never leads anywhere good.

My question always is, "yeah, I get that you can say whatever you want. Let's put that one to bed for the moment. The real curiosity is why this particular bit of expression is the one thing you just have to say, at this particular moment?"

At any rate, sorry you've had to endure all this. The best that can be hoped is that more of you rubs off on them than the other way around.

I absolutely hate those types of people. I mean, it's great that they're so honest and everything, but people need to realize the repercussions of blatant honesty like that. Especially when it comes to generalizations about race.

I always hope that my overall genial behavior rubs off on someone...but that never works. I just have to stop hanging around/talking to assholes. I rarely talk to anyone in general, so the asshole ratio has narrowed a bit.

They forget there is consequences to said freedom of speech.

That's the one that gets me.

YES EXACTLY. No one realizes that while, yes, we have freedom of speech, the consequences of things you say will still get you in trouble. Like if someone calls me some racist hooey, me punching them is just part of that consequence.
