Furry Pride Casting Call
So Rainfurrest is over, and man am I depressed. But, I had one hell of a time. Now to get mushy on you all for a bit.
I never really understood what furry pride meant until Rainfurrest. Before, I just gave it the logical definition of being proud to be a furry, where if someone would ask, "Are you a furry?" I would immediately respond with "You bet yer ass I am!" with no hesitation. But I wasn't really like that. I live in a pretty cut-and-dry town in Montana where you're either a logger or a redneck, so I never have anyone even asking me if I am a furry, and if anyone did, I'd have some reservations about immediately saying yes.
I didn't fully understand and accept what furry pride was until a purple husky named Hip-Hop performed a song about furry pride at the variety show. Now I know it's so much more than being confident enough to say "Yes, I am a furry." It's also not being afraid to be who you are, being that person, and not caring what other people think about you. After I got over the fact that no one cared that I was wearing a tail and having fangasms over fursuiters and talking out loud about my favourite artists and falling in love with new ones, I was in heaven. This is what furry pride is to me: being proud to say that I am a furry, and not being ashamed to act like one. Unfortunately, this realization didn't come until roughly 9 PM the night before the con ended so I didn't have enough time to truly act like myself, and that is probably what hurts the most. But Hip-Hops' song has inspired me. I'm going to BFLC 2015 and Rainfurrest 2015, and, I'll admit, I did a lot of stuff wrong at RF2014 (not enough spending money, room was too far away from the con) but I'm going to do better in the future.
That's where you all come in. Hip-Hops' song inspired me to write one of my own. I want to help others find their furry pride, whether they admit it out loud or in secret, if I can. I also want to show the fandom how much it means to me. I have plans for a massive furry pride song, and want the fandom to sing it. There is no age or gender or vocal range limit, you only need furry pride, and a microphone.
I just got back from RF, but I want to get the ball rolling on this while the idea is still fresh in my mind and I feel like I still have some momentum. Interested on telling the world about your furry pride? Shoot me a PM and let me know!
And thank you all for being so amazing and making RF a truly remarkable first con experience!
