Well, that took longer than expected.
Yes, I am alive! I've been a bit occupied for the past few months, first by a general inability to do anything remotely useful (summer vacation ate my work ethic) and then by the onset of sophomore year in college. The second year is what separates the wheat from the chaff, so I've been spending a fair bit of time on my schooling.
I have not been working on audio as of late, unfortunately. I'm current stymied by repetition- it's all blending together into an uninteresting mass. For that reason, I'm going to be taking some time to practice new techniques (ever heard of a head-related transfer function?) and record some new samples which, in theory, will lead to higher quality than before. My apologies go out to those who've been waiting on me for this long- if you're still interested, get back in touch with me and, once I'm back at work, I'll get cracking on 'em.
I'll be posting a backlog of art over the next few weeks, too. Might get a piece up tonight if I'm inspired (and not too busy studying the mechanics of alkene additions, which I can assure you are fascinating).
Other than that, there's not too much to mention at the moment. I will likely be posting a follow-up journal in a few days, however, as I have a few ideas that aren't quite fully baked just yet.

Your brain uses this information to figure out where the sound is coming from. It's how you can differentiate a sound that's in front and to the left vs. one that's behind and to the left, for example.
It's quite complex, so I'm just interested in applying the very basics of the principle. Will have to see how that works out.
It'd be neat if I could link a filter to the panning of a sound (so that it automagically muffles sound on the side that isn't directly hearing it), but I dun think that's possible.
