I have recently been looking into making myself a few bits of steampunk costume leather armour, mostly a small chest piece, a shoulder pauldron and maybe some gauntlets. This will be something completely different and will hopefully go ok enough to actually wear it with my outfit :) I'll start planning it soon and also saving up for the leather tools, bits and pieces like brass rivets but the actual tanned leather which is where the majority of the cost will be. Nothing beats trying to make something yourself and potentially waste a couple hundred dollars in the process.
Hell if it goes ok and I really get into it I might even try to sell something but I doubt it will come to that.
