These are both very helpful:

I'd also like to add, that if you do the art for commissions. A WIP is nice to see.
I know some artists only do WIPs if someone pays extra, which I don't really get, cause you're drawing it out in the first place, there's gonna be a sketch in there somewhere, so you're just wanting extra money to pay for the time spent to "save as, and send" which doesn't take a lot of effort, but okay, I'm sure someone will "explain" it to me.
I just like to know that what I'm paying for is what I'm getting. It's kinda frustrating when someone is all, "what do you want?" and you send them a ref with a description (or the best you can) and then however long later you get a finished piece and you're all "um...that's not quite what I wanted" because you couldn't quite explain what you wanted the first time or you forgot something and when you see the sketch you get a better idea what's to come, and it might trigger something. I know I'm not the best at giving information, I can't always formulate what I want to say right away until it's too late and then it ends up being 3-5 notes long and I know how frustrating that can be to sort through.
Anywho I'm ranting. I just like seeing wips of work >.<

FA+

Like, I get charging more if you ask for a lot of changes, or a different pose, or something major (Giving them large wings as appose to just making them wink), but... an artist is literally not doing anything more by just showing a sketch.
In fact, I'd assume that's a better route to go? What if you missed something? A marking? The hair is incorrect? Something is the wrong color? I shake my head at artists who charge for tedious things.
