Do you world build a lot?
I'm in molecular bio lab and we have a lot of wait time for our experiment so I wanted to chat with you guys.
So I waa wondering if you guys make worlds for all of your adopts or maybe just a particular setting for each with one world?
Maybe you don't do worlds at all??
If you do, what do you focus on the most in your world?
Do you share your worlds? Are they open for others or friends to join??
I usually just make settings but lately I want to try world building again but it's so overwhelming I don't even know where to start.
I also thought that some of my worlds or settings are pretty generic that I wouldn't mind sharing or collabing so my characters can interact with others!
Hi FA it's almost 9 am and lab is slow.
I realize this probably won't be answered while I'm in lab... Too early. ;; u ;;

FA+

for the adopts I buy which is rarely and when it does happen they tend to be original species?
so I usually to like to use the original species owners world *A*
I dont know it just feels right that way? well at least the rough setting anyway-
but world building seriously- its so difficult I cannot- so many small details!!! /cries/
like when u get down to what sort of calender years they use
and wut sorta things they weight stuff by and all that u know u gone to deep
a lot of my worlds are hella rough like i don't often go to far into details unless i feel like it- or i reach that problem-
but its really fun same time- ummm I mainly focus on the story
then make the world around that?? but I like looking at building structures most- /breaths heavily/
I'd love to share my worlds but like /watches as a tumble weed rolls past/
yah amg I agree like most my worlds are pretty generic as well so its probably not hard for people to join in-
mostly I like world building with other people- helps get ideas going and wut not- and when ur stuck u can rely on them /shot/
hello its 2PM and I just finished university for today /celebrates/
But oh I see. I usually keep the headcanons but I make a place for the adopts in my own world or setting.
I don't really see the adopts having their own world but really like a clan or specific setting of a mixed world or something.
I enjoy world building but I really haven't done it full fledged and I want to try. Like the worlds they build for rpg video games is just so cool I get inspired to work on my own.
I'm not good at drawing scenery or architech tho and I wish I were cause it would make things much easier and also nicer to draw out and have visuals.
I think a few of my adopts would live in an open world but the others have their own really specific plots and lore that I can't really just leave it open for others.
I wouldn't mind hearing about your worlds!!
and yah i think that's a good way to go??? like making them interact with ur own ideas helps a lot-
I don't know just at the moment I find it really hard to see these original species interacting with each other
like eventually it may click though- I'm working on it
looool yah I just need to visualize that mixed world? like i know I can do that? I just don't have any ideas for it yet- this is all sounding so vague help
yeeessssssssss omg I get so inspired by rpg stuff- with mmo's I play and what not!
oh and also fantasy books I read an all that- like lord of the rings lore is so impressive- I gotta admit
I haven't read the books yet /sobs/ but I got told all about it by a friend whos crazy about it- and like so impressive- I'll work on reading the books later-
oh geeze u should see my attempts at scenery and architecture - they are hideous- like generally really bad but I tend to try sketch it down anyways
to get the ideas on paper so I dont forget them later sorta thing /cries/ I wouldn't proudly show anyone any of them- I also try and find like
picture examples from this world??? and use that as visual reference to help
oh geeze no like some of my plots are defiantly closed but I'd say open if I a friend or something was interested in it-
I'm never gonna put my plots like out there for random people to use- t
though I did once for an rp group on da...back in the daayyy and that was really fun actually if a bit of a cluster fuck and drama hole but it was fun all the same loool
ahhh geeze I dunno where to start /rolls about/ ummmm I'll say the one I've recently been developing, with dragons- cus dragons are hella cool- it was gonna be sorta ...steampunk medieval themed? its really hard to describe- like knights an all that! but with steampunk elements mixed in- but ummm dragons have now multiplied and breed so much that they have taken over most the land, the dragons all have a toxic breath/emit like toxic smoke from there nostrils which is dangerous to humans in large amounts so the world below is cover in layers of poisonous gas and it's like mostly waste land now, just covered in piles of rubbish from all the dragons hoards. I image it to sorta be a big swamp then desert in some places- and like the dragons feed on evolved fish and other dragons or people where they can find them, the dragons have also lost most there flight ability because they spent so many years upon the ground, feeling no need to fly anywhere and the people have moved to the sky now instead of the dragons- so like air ships- called castles- and there's this organization called the knights that have an aim to reclaim the land from the dragons but have failed many years in doing so because ...well the dragons are just so strong- but they eventually made an alliance with a few of the air born dragons still left in the world and yah things roll on from there-
Oh geeze I dunno its kinda lame but Im working on it /puts head in hands/
As for visuals yeah I think looking up examples would be easier, but also still difficult unless you're really good at researching. It's very time consuming too but I think it makes good references for when you actually decide to draw out yours if you wanted to?? I might do it some time.
OMG that's actually really cool I LOVE DRAGONS and all their lores and sldkmflsldmg. I'm not a super big fan of steam punk though. My love lies with fantasy settings with elves, mages, monsters, humans, whatnot. A lot like the LotR series!!
As for my own worlds, I actually don't have many or at least I don't have many thought out. I think the only one I've started putting a lot adopts into would be my Japanese themed setting. And I don't think it would be a world, but just a small section of it. For what I have on it so far, there isn't much traveling so it's pretty much just one town, but I might add more. I thought this one would be open cause it's a mesh of a lot of my adopts and the story isn't very constricted. I wonder if I started making things for it, if people would join me or draw character interactions with me. I'd love to build up a world and whatnot!
I think it is okay to take inspiration from things? I mean world building is really hard in itself and its impossible to be entirely original, and I'm pretty sure even dragon age must have gotten there lore inspired from somewhere just like take bits carry them on?
ahhhhhhhhhhh well one of my worlds is set in a country with like pretty little colored houses for architecture so when I went to France i actually took a ton of pictures for reference in this cute little walled sea town we went to- it was perfect- but yah like u really need to know like what examples to look for already if u need to research photographs an stuff hahhhhh which is a pain sometimes-
yeah drawing is much better cus it can be much more accurate- but like its always nice to have a base to work from- its really helpful indeed u should try it *A*
DRAGONS ARE AMAZING- I used to be obsessed with them when I was little- like crazy obsessed- ahhhh <333 like tons of books on them at home- and ahhh its not really steampunk as such cus no Victorian elements which make up half of what steampunk is actually loool ....trying to think of better way to describe...........................ummmm u know like howls moving castle by studio ghibli? like the castle in that? urrrr like lots of junk and coggs all stuck together and rusted kinda thing?
yess fantasy settings I love a lot a lot- like my standard go to! but I'm a bigger lover of all genres and things really- accept the modern world basically /shot/ anything but reality is great with me loool
my most developed world is with magicians and wizards and witches- really fun to work with magic! it's focused on a world where the moon just suddenly vanished, but they had magicians in the world already and some could specialize in weather magic- so they just pulled the magicians in to help replace and control the weather instead so the world could keep its natural status even without the moon, then weather magicians over time became more respected and revered and now its like the number one desired job lool to be a weather magician- you get funded by royalty an everything and like theirs a higher Archy with in the weather magicians so the sun magicians are like celebrities int he capitals while fog magicians- who are hardly needed are like ..pretty much ignored. I developed it with a friend and like pretty proud of this one but we cant think of a good plot to go in it LOOL which is like the opposite problem then usual- we made the world- but we wanna make a comic with it and we cant think of a plot- we thinking something to do with the missing moon but we stuck so hard on the mystery- like got ideas but nothing seems good enough-
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yyyyyessssssssss bby yesss asian themed settings are always so pretty I'd love to hear more when u got more- ahduifht <333 narrowing it down to one town is good cus u can easy developed the town ahh and I'd love to join your world if you ever do decide on that- if u'd have me- like doing stuff together with people always way more fun ;A;
I definitely don't think anything is 100% original anymore, but I guess the mage thing is pretty specific to Dragon Age, so I might just like reference it to give credit for the idea if I use it.
OMG THAT is so cool. European countries have such amazing architecture. I especially love Italy and Rome, I'm such a nerd for everything Greek/Roman mythology related too. I think places near waters are absolutely amazing as well, like Venice or Amsterdam.
I would love to make a world built around that-- GETS IDEAS RIGHT NOW OMG....
Wow you have so many ideas already and worlds and sldkfmlsdg I LOVE MAGIC. That sounds really neat and REALLY unique!
ALONG THOSE LINES THOUGH, the comic thing is sort of what I wanted to do with my Jap world. So like having others join in would be fun cause I could cameo their characters or branch off ideas and stuff. It would just be for fun though and who knows when I'll ever get around to it if I ever do. I'm terrible at paneling OTL.
And you are welcome to join if I ever set it up!! Everything would be Japanese themed, but there are no limits on species cause I'm slowly collecting a whole bunch of asian themed adopts to put into it. My dreamy is where it started, along with I was playing Hakuouki at the time I was thinking about it, so I'll probably use him the most and branch off of the idea of Shinsengumi or just samurais.
ahhhh yeah theres so many nice buildings around here- even where I live theirs some great stuff ;A; though theirs nice stuff everywhere I go- ahhhh places by the sea or water get me as well- I went to Norway and the lakes there where stunning- it was so beautiful- so much inspiration
and amg.....yes. YES. YESSS GOOD- U SHOULD MAKE A WORLD AROUND THAT OMG- WATER EVERYWHERE- AHDIUFHT
YAH MAGIC IS AMAZING- U CAN DO SO MUCH WITH IT I LOVE IT- AND SHHH NO UR BEING TO NICE /HOLDS UR FACE/
AHHHHHH but thankyou /cries/ I get a lot of ideas?? sometimes- THOUGH SOMETIMES I GET NOTHING AT ALL- Like today in class- jesus that was horrible- they wanted us to come up with ideas for a advertisement campaign and I was just there like urrrr- wut is thinking-
like I got a ton of ideas for original species over time but hardly any of them ever make the cut for me to work on them- cus effort-
but omg yes a comic sounds perfecttt- its also good drawing practice LOOL intense drawing practice- don't even get me started on paneling I dunno how people make it look niceee-
just sounds like all round funnn amg the cameo idea sounds so cute- I love seeing background characters I reconise in things!
amg yes ur cutie dreamy is a dreammm wut a babe- I love that kinda thing- /screams/ samurais and that sorta visual is all so cool ahidufht
I got my blakrye who fits into an Asian setting but who knows omg- but if u do do it I am here /shot
Its soooo much fun to build a huge world, it opens so many possibilities. Mine are all set in a cyberpunk setting, since i love sci-fi thing. ;u;
Its so hard to stick to one setting though! There are some many cool scenarios out there, like Steam-Punk or Medieval Fantasy!
I wish I was more into sci-fi and cyberpunk, but I think I only have one story that would fit that kind of setting and it's more human based than anything.
I think it would be neat to have all OCs in the same setting cause you could make up interactions, but they are just so vastly different that many of them wouldn't interact sobs. ;; o ;;
i like this because i don't feel like i need to stick to anything in particular for what can and cannot exist in a world? like some of these universes can have hi-tech androids or low-fantasy magic while others don't and it helps from things getting too crazy for myself while letting me have my wide array of like 300+ characters all doing their own thang LOL quite a few characters live in the same universes though, like a lot of my cat boys and friends catboys all live in the same universal plane if not in the same building complex or town!
also i am intrigued with the idea of making some universes possibly overlap in some places so that could be an interesting experiment later :3ccc
Also their themes are very different too?? Like some are fantasies based off of myths while others are more modern. Some are greek and some are japanese, and even though different cultures can interact, they wouldn't really in my settings?? It's hard to mesh them together.
But I agree it makes it less confined and restricted when you have multiple universes. If you stick to just one world, everything has to fit that lore or setting and it limits your possibilities.
_(l3/(_)_ .. if i ever made whole worlds for them i wouldn't really mind if others used them too but, i would like that at least they also interact w/ my chars if so nnhhh
I have a lot of mmo/rpg settings that I want to use as well, but I never get around to doing it outside of just playing the game.
But I like to procrastinate so who knows when I'll get to it.
But sometimes I do it instwad of homework so it is my procrastination lmfao.
I'll keep doing busy work, but I'll never get myself to do something creative. :p
