I was definitely caught unprepared when i went camping in Joshua Tree over winter a couple years ago. It is a desert and gets extremely cold. All of our drinks froze over night and i got no sleep because i didn't bring enough insulation (all i had was a sleeping bag, even those swiss army mummy bags don't do crap). Some tips i would have is to bring large containers of water so it wont freeze as easily, and bring canteens to fill up in the day. Also, if you think you have enough insulation, double it. The same goes with water. Double what you think you need (you can just keep extra supplies in your car).

However my favorite place to climb in the winter is probably Tram Way, also in California. I like it because it snows and doesn't get as freezing as Joshua Tree.

Unusually I train in strength more than endurance during the winter.

I haven't ever been outdoor climbing during the winter season. Plenty of indoor climbing, but the temperature of indoor can be easily controlled. However I want to climb this winter. I will just have to buy some really nice sleeping bags and get some insulated water containers to prevent freezeing.

Once I get back from my christmas vacation, ill be sure to find some time to head up to the mountains. I will for sure do the usual indoor climbing, but im sure me and  dovu will climb together this winter. :3
