Hey all.
Im getting interested in doing some firefighter exchanges soon. BOth locally and abroad. Has anyone here had an experiance with that? Anyone willing to do something like it? Im not talking right away... I understand it's rather lengthy process to get things underway. BUt it's still cool to visit another department and learn their ways and share ideas. ESPECIALLY any German furs... I do plan on making a trip to Germany again within 2 years.
ALSO
What about fire department competitions? Morale in my area seams to have taken a dive... I want to breathe in new life and try to get our old musters and races back in action. WHo participates in that? I;d like some ideas.
AND
Anyone who's name is not on the list of Active fire service furs.... please note me and I'll post your name right away!
Stay safe brothers and sisters

I am currently only a volunteer in SPFD, North Carolina but maybe even we could participate in something like that in the long run.
When I was still a fire fighter in Germany I did participate in firefighter competitions.
What were some of the skills you competed in? I drool over watching the hose races back east with their formula 1 race engines and ladder teams. But I need to dumb it down a little over where I'm at.
And he did it not only to safe on cost but also to make it a real exchange just like we know from school when we do student exchanges with other countries.
Our German competitions where set up differently. You were judged in whatever part you were assigned in, be it attack, laddering, supply and so on and the whole team was judged together as well. You had to be able to do it all because you never knew what your assignment would turn out to be.
And hey..everything needs to be dumbed down to be usable for most parts of the US...trust me I know.
