You never think it will happen to you (stepdad in hospital)

Squirrel!
Friday afternoon after I got to my mums, mum stepdad wanted a tow on his vintage motorbike to try to start it (kick start was broken before you ask) So mum hesitantly agreed. So they trundle off up the road and I go off to talk to the neighour, then I hear mom screaming "I NEED AN AMBULANCE!"
My stepdad had only come off the bike while being towed, with no helmet on, and hit his head hard on the road knocking him unconscious for I'd say five minutes ish. My little brother (16) legged it up the road (this is on a quiet british country lane btw) just as he was coming round. I followed suit as fast as I could,
Anyway, our stepdad kept trying to get up, wanted to go home and rest, even though blood was pissing from multiple places on his head, we knew he was concussed as he didn't know who he was, where he was, didn't even know my sisters name, didn't know where he was, why he was there or what had happened.
Ambulance arrived, pretty promptly, lights and sirens on all the way, shortly followed by two police cars which shut down the road. Then followed by our local Air Ambulance. I think it took over an hour before they settled him enough to be able to sedate him for the helicopter ride, because he was being a little aggressive towards medics, claiming he was fine etc, usual symptoms of head trauma.
Anyway he was flown to a hospital that specializes in such injuries, kept in a medically induced coma for about 24 hours before they gradually brought him out of it. Today he was sat up in bed and they are looking to move him to a standard ward now (if they haven't already.
