I personally miss the patterns and the amount of detail in her fur on the previous design, but the new one seems to be a good replacement to me.

Aesthetic-wise, I like both because they're both colorful, and colorful suits Abal well. But for practicality reasons, the new one is the better design simply because the set color pattern is easier to draw. Easier to draw means she's more likely to be drawn often, and really that's we viewers (or at least me) are looking for in Abal: more appearances. Because what good is her design if she's not drawn often?
