As some of you may know, today is more than the Marine Corps' Birthday. It's a day those of us along Superior know as the date the Edmund Fitzgerald, the pride of the Great Lakes fleet, was swallowed up by Superior. No bodies were recovered and the cause of the sudden loss of one of the most technologically advanced boats is still a mystery. The boat and her crew were immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot's 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."
