okay first tip, use refrences. you may think you know how things look, but you'll be wrong
second, do gestures. gestures help you understand how a figure is posed and the motion the figure is going through
gestures are extremely quick sketches, designed to show you what you need to know in what the character is doing, with the fewest lines you can manage, in very little time.
