Kitties: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6274625/
TL;DR of the previous journal: I found kittens. I also found another cat. They are unrelated. They are all homeless currently. They need shots, health exams, and fixin's. This is not cheap. My own cat has also had problems passing urine lately, to the point of bleeding, and needs to be examined as well. I've already done price matching at multiple vets, don't qualify for cheaper vouchers or assistance programs, nor are there many options in my small city, shelters are full and I refuse to just leave them be.
====
I went back to check on the kittens and got some information! The neighbors daughter was riding her bike and saw some kids being weird at the end of the street. She investigated and saw that the other kids were burying the kittens in the ground. They dug holes, put the kittens in, and buried their bodies, leaving their head showing. She confirmed from the kids that the kittens are strays, so she took them home. Her dad said she needed to get rid of them immediately, so she put them on our patio and told him they were gone. They've been there for two days with no food or water.
I brought them some food, refreshed their water, and made a bed from a cardboard box and some rags I had in my car, so they're good for the night. I will be back tomorrow to mow the lawn so I can check in on them and feed them again. The child who put them there is much too young to effectively find homes for them and the parents want nothing to do with the kittens. I'm officially taking responsibility for them. I intend to have them vaccinated, examined and neutered. While they're healing, I'll keep them on my own enclosed patio at my house while I care for them and socialize the shy one.
My next step is to research the adult cat. First, I need to have her scanned for a chip, which is free. If she's not chipped, then I need to have her examined to see if she's been spayed, which is not free. If she's intact, she's getting the full treatment (shots, health check up, and spay) and then she'll be released back into the neighborhood of I can't find her a home on Craigslist. I'm hoping she has a chip, but we'll see. The kittens absolutely are in need of homes though. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! <3

I would encourage you not to 'release her to the neighborhood.' If at all possible, find a home for her, a life on the streets is hard.
Just my two cents. I wish you luck and applaud you effort to help.
You should look up in your area and see if they offer the spay and release thing. We have it hear via We Snipp and its country wide I have heard. They will take feral cats and spay them for free and release then back in the wild. That could help cover mama cats cost.
While going door to door to find out information, I learned there's actually a big stray cat problem in that neighborhood and there's a little old lady who takes care of what she can. I stopped by her house to talk to her but no one answered. It sure smelled like animals there, though, and I could see lots of strays around the house. I'm incredibly tempted to try to help out with them.. @_@ At least get them spayed. I'm hoping if anything, she can qualify for the free or cheap spay/neuter vouchers. I left my number and email so we'll see if she's interested in talking to me.
And you're welcome! It's people like you that make this world worth living in. Every time I give up hope and think there's nothing worth saving in this world anymore, people like you do these awesome things that make me realize the world isn't full of nothing but self-centered assholes and stupid people. So thank you. Thank you very much for doing this. <3
HOW DARE THEY MISTREAT ANIMALS!
Reminds me of my old cat Bengal, who I found abandoned as a kitten at Wal-Marts parking lot ;;
He died last year...not going to go into details, but I hope you find homes for these guys ^^
I've got the little kittens at my own home now and they're really happy now. I'm trying to qualify for low cost neutering and if I do, it's going to save me a TON of money. Did you know that if you qualify, it's only $20 for shots AND neutering? That's incredible >_> Compared to the $250 all the vets charge.
I'm getting really antsy right now, trying to keep myself from driving over to the kittens and bringing them home. I haven't gotten permission from my husband yet and I'm afraid he'll think I'm trying to hoard cats. >_> Now I'm extra excited about getting them because my cat might be nice to them! If so, I'm sure they'd appreciate a motherly figure for awhile. They're definitely old enough to be rejected for nursing, but with how strong my cat's motherly instincts are, I'd think she'd at least clean and cuddle them!
It was weird- the first day I volunteered I accidentally gotten scratched and was bleeding by the kitty. He was trying to jump to the cat tree from my arms when I was trying to present him this family, the poor thing doesn't have a tail and needed a home. By protocol, I had to get looked at and the kitty would have to get under quarantined, to make sure it has no rabies or whatnot. 1 1/2 weeks later, I received a call from the humane society, as I asked them to give me an update on the kitty, because I was worried for him. While at the quarantine place, he was inspected and nothing was wrong with him, AND someone there fell in love with him and he's getting a new home! I have never been so happy in a long time! The Humane Society is a wonderful place! Even if my campus has a cat problem, and they're more or less pest from the rate they're multiplying, there is at least a haven where they're given a second chance in life. ^^
Yeah, that's a problem if they're full. But Humane Societies know one-another from what I've learned. So if they are full, you can ask if there is another nearby you can drop the kitties at or if they know of an alternative temporary spots to give them a home. And my humane Society is a pretty small place- up to 60 cats and dogs can be housed at one point. They'll never put up a kitty for adoption until they give them their shots and medicine. So if a place is open, I can guarantee they'll get as healthy as possible and get a good home. And us volunteers will gladly help socialize the sweethearts and get them ready for a family. Last few times I was there, there were just as many adoptions, as quickly as we gain new arrivals of old and young kitties.
A harsh lesson in empathy. You are a wonderful person for going out of your way to help those kitties and I hope
your own cat will be ok as well.
