Trading/Selling Adopts 101

Swiped THIS JOURNAL off of wolframkyo like a bandit, but I believe it makes some well put out points. Here you gooo:
Please do:
-Check artist trade/resell rules. If you can't find them, be patient and check with the artist. ALWAYS this goes for both trading/selling and for both parties. breaking rules can cause artists to crack down harder on their adopts, block parties involved or worse.
-Check prices of adopts for resells. This goes for BOTH parties. Most adopt makers will have their adopt auctions/sales either in their main gallery or scraps. In the event you can't find them, please message the artist. Don't go "well this is going for upwards to $75 now, let's sell it for that 8D"
-Express what you're looking for in your comments/on your journal such as "Seekers, Kreis, Mantibabs" or "Adopts from makers like X and adopts similar to that". The more examples and the narrower you make your search, the more likely you are to get what you REALLY want
-If people don't have what they're looking for expressed in the comments either link them your trades or ask what they are looking for
-ALWAYS watermark your designs and exchange unwatermarked files via note but it's still safest if you watermark them.
-ALWAYS read everything a trader/seller has noted in their artist comments/journal. You may miss key points and come off as rude or badgering. I know how easy it is to get excited and overlook things and things can be long winded but be sure to read it all.
-As a seller/trader try to keep your listings up to date so you don't have people asking about adopts that are already gone
-ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check to make sure a design is legitimate before you decide to trade/buy.
Please DON'T
-Price adopts that you don't know the original cost of
-Sell adopts you got in trade unless the creator says it is okay with them.
-ABSOLUTELY AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EVER MESSAGE SOMEONE ABOUT SELLING/TRADING SOMETHING THEY HAVE NOT ADVERTISED ON ONE OF THEIR PAGES
-Offer trades with someone on someone else's trade page. This is rude and they may not want those adopts open for EVERYONE but JUST for what they are offering toward. Check their pages to find out.
-Request a trader to draw additional art to match the art you have of the adopt you're trading to them. You must remember that you are trading a design. The person may have no use for the art you have gotten, for instance; if it's of a sexual nature with another character. And, lastly, it's rude/inappropriate because you would be getting a commission that you have full control over while the person you're trading with had no control over the art they received with the design.
-Refer to adopts as "high quality' or "name brand" when searching for adopts. Aside from the fact that it can be disrespectful to artists/adopt makers what you consider 'high quality' or 'name brand' another person might not.
-Say "that's only worth $XX and I paid so much more than that for this so no". It's much more polite to simply say "i'm looking for something else for that" or "i'm sorry I'm not interested"
-Keep badgering a person when they have expressed they are not interested in trading with you/at all.
-Haggle unless the interested party has expressed a potential interest in haggling or if you have already tried to haggle and they've stated they had no interest in haggling
-Try to 'bribe' or guilt people into selling/trading
-Step over someone else to try to get an adopt last minute. For example, a trader/seller are in the final stages of the agreement and you try to jump in with a slightly higher price/offer and, definitely, DO NOT give into those who do that.
-Try to auction off a design as a ladder auction with more than it's adopts original worth without FIRST consulting an artist's rules and them personally.
-EVER sell/trade/gift recolors. Most artists will have this in their TOS as a no no and some artists will have in their TOS that you can't make recolors that are two different characters at all. Rules vary from artist to artist so it's wise to check and to note if something is unclear.
-Offer adoptables other than what a trader is looking for unless they haven't specified what they are looking for. This causes a lot of frustration and disappointment all around.
