Back from MFF
Hi guys. I'm back from MFF and I had a lot of fun. No I'm not dead.
Unfortunately there was an issue with a gass leak on Saturday day night. The whole hotel had to be evacuated and everyone was kept up till 4 am. I'm not sure what happened specifically but people say it was intentionally placed chlorine gass or something just as shitty. Police are thinking it was a criminal act. I'll bet it was some anti furry asshole.
A handful of people were sent to the hospital but turned out okay. They only complained about nausea and dizziness. So other than a few tummy aches, we're all fine.
I on the other hand wasn't in the convention hotel. I was in the Hilton down the street from it so I'm fine. My heart goes out to those who had to go through that ordeal.
Sunday morning was a very unhappy event. I actually had not learned about what happened till some heard me commenting to a friend how I though everyone looked hungover. Then he told me what happened and that explaned allot of zombified looks.
Although on a lighter note, it was pretty funny seeing all the dealers and artists barely holding on to consciousness due to only having a couple hours sleep. It looked like the walking dead with out the makeup. There was actually one dealer selling refrigerator magnets and had some on display. She'll draw you up a copy or a custom one. But she was so tired that she didn't want to draw new ones so she just sold me a couple of the display models :/ poor girl. I bought two.
I guess everyone was hurting from that incident. Hopefully they catch whoever did it.

I hope you and your friends and everyone else is alright.
So far, none of the terrorist threats against us have been confirmed to have come from far-right anti-furry groups and those that have been confirmed have turned out to have been furries.
but glad you are okay hehe
Glad you're safe and safe back home, good too see you, sorry the leak happened...
Now, this sounds bad, right? But its not a confirmation of a criminal act in and of itself. To understand that this was a willful act, you have to understand that Chlorine's natural state is not powder, its not even liquid, its gas. To form liquid Chlorine you need to put it under pressure (Much like Liquid Nitrogen) and cool it down.
To form powder, you need to bond it with something else (Commonly that would be Sodium, which forms Sodium Chloride, also known as table salt), or take the liquefied substance and dehydrate it somehow.
Now, eventually, the powdered chlorine would return to its natural state (Gas) if left alone, say in a stairwell. But it would take time, and would be almost unnoticeable until someone started having symptoms of chlorine poisoning, such as nausea or light hotheadedness, or vomiting.
Which, by the way only occurs at 30ppm (Parts Per Million), lung damage happens at 60ppm(At this concentration the Chlorine reacts to the water naturally present in the lungs, and forms hydrochloric acid Acid), and its commonly fatal at 1000pmm.
Its also a very heavy gas, and accumulates in lower areas, sort of like CO2. So, it was placed on the 9th floor, with the realization that it would affect -that- floor, and the floors beneath it.
So, yeah. It feels like a willful act in my book.
Not gonna argue this, holy fucking shit, just stop
Also, that is just sort of how my brain works, I tend over-explain things sometimes :c because my brain is full of facts, like encyclopedia of Encarta full of facts, so sometimes it just...sort of all spills out like a search on Google.
So, again, I really did not mean to offend you! Honestly :c if you want I can edit or even hide my comment.
Calcium Hypo, when exposed to water, will offgas huge amounts of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which in small amounts (2-10ppm) in aqueous solution is an excellent pool/spa disinfectant, but higher than that is quite dangerous. Normally the symptoms are respiratory in nature - runny nose, burning eyes, coughing and sneezing, etc. It hits you like a brick wall - I've had to make entry in hazmat PPE before (like this one time my idiot coworker added waaaay too many pellets directly into the spa feed and gassed out the whole hot tub area) and neutralize it with no less than 2 cups of Thiosulfate. It's very nasty stuff when mishandled.
...and while it's true that hotels often have pools where these materials may be used, and idiot pool workers may mishandle them, there is NO reason why Calcium Hypo should ever be in a stairwell - stored only in approved HazMat locations with proper ventilation and in proper containers, etc. All the signs point to a deliberate act. ...and even if it weren't deliberate the perpetrator should STILL be punished for stupidity while handling HazMat.
Another way to phase it, To my understanding, is that the police think it might be an attack, but can't confirm it. If they are right in this case however, Rain thinks that if this is the case then its most likely done by some anti-fur person/s
Not that it was an attack by anti-furs. As you seem to have gleaned from this. I apologise if i am wrong in regards about that.
If it isn't what everyone thinks then it's an unfortunet event, i hope for the later. After all, we are still human and nothing will ever change that.
