Why the hell would they make another Star Wars in the first place?

The sad part is that Disney owns the rights to Star Wars. So this was basically DreamWorks Animation conceding to Disney.

Yeah, but KFP3 was planned and scheduled before Star Wars VII was even a thing, which makes it disappointing. I like Star Wars. It has it's pedestal in pop culture and as a movie history icon, but I don't think they really needed to make a 7th Star Wars film. To me, this screams 8th and 9th film b/c I'm sure the Star Wars nation will want to see more and this 7th film will leave fans wanting more and will probably leave things unexplained. On the downside, have to wait 3 more months for Kung Fu Panda 3. On the upside, it gives them more time to make it even more awesome.

From what I understand, when KFP2 came out, it's box office gross suffered because it came out the same time as an installment from another franchise (The Hangover Part II). They clearly didn't want history to repeat itself with KFP 3. But the fact there is even going to be a Kung Fu Panda 3 is news to me

Dreamworks always does stories they an serialize if its CGI works.
KFP was a originally conceptualized with 3 but possible for 5, after the second movie they moved forward with the plan of five movies.

Well that sucks. Personally I'd much rather watch Kung Fu Panda 3. I mean Star Wars is cool and all but seriously, calm your tits Disney.
