Game Review - Super Smash Bros Wii U
Hello fellow gamers, welcome to another edition of Game Review with me as your host. As always, I'm Bolt Templar, and today, lets get our fight on with Smash Brothers!
~~WARNING~~ Spoilers ahead ~~WARNING~~
Alrighty, lets look at... oh god why?
I've loved this game series since the days of Smash 64, and since then, I've dominated with Link. I hit hard, move non-stop, and always, ALWAYS go for the kill. The roster back then was tiny, but now? So many characters you almost don't want to look at the selection... with a roster so large it borders being stupid-large, this game has fighters for EVERYBODY! Not only that, but now 8 colors (sometimes entire skin-changes) for every fighter! Why do we need 8? Oh yes, that's right, for the brand new mode!
EIGHT PLAYER BRAWL! Who thought this was a good idea? ... they were right, but still. This mode seriously is crazy. In a fast paced match of 4 different fighters, you can still get lost, but now? Hell, lets add 4 more fighters, and also, allow all 8 to choose the same person! If you all pick Palutena, good luck...
All this being said, the items and options and even levels to choose from in this is staggeringly beautiful. Levels range from tiny to HUGE! Moving sections can add all sorts of craziness, and of course, some classics made it back for another round through the mayhem. Truly, a sight to behold...
So many beautiful things in this game... but... lets look at the dark side now
STORY MODE IS GONE! I LOVED story mode. The struggle of using new fighters at random, the bosses, the levels, the mazes, oh god it was SO FUN! What was it replaced by? ... honestly, I'm calling it Crap-Party. You pick a Mii, run around on a mario-party-esque board collecting power-ups and fighters, only to jump up and down on all counts, gain and lose fighters non-stop, and at the end, have a tiny fight that doesn't even matter since the first to lose can still come out of the mode in 1st... it feels like a wasted mode to be honest.
Classic Mode. There is nothing classic about this mode except the final fight against Master Hand (And Crazy Hand if you do it at a high level) and even then, they have new stuff to them, which is fine, but then you find out there is a secret boss at lvl 9 difficulty (if you can afford it, good luck and may they have mercy upon you) and that final boss is like 6-7 parts long!
All in all, I like the game, but I find myself playing Brawl more than it, just for the story mode... they may have changed to much in this adaptation.
Tell me your thoughts (or vents) down below!
Happy gaming!!!
