2014 in Retrospect
Hey guys! Long time no speak.
I've been very busy with things so I haven't updated nearly as much as I'd like, but things are going great and I'm terribly excited to start off the new year on a new leaf.
A lot has changed this year. Early in the year, I decided I just wanted to do art as a hobby and I really wanted to pursue holistic nutrition. I quit my job in retail and moved to the city, and I had a revelation that made me realize art really was my passion and it really is possible to make money doing what it is I love.
After that point I would wake up at 7am every morning, walk to a fast food joint just to sit in the corner, throw some headphones on and study art for a couple hours. I did that for a few weeks and I produced what I feel is some of my best work that month. Unfortunately life got a little crazy after that, and although I was still producing work and living solely off of my art income, I wasn't making enough to really contribute to my savings and instead was slowly losing money.
I'm currently living back in my old city and got a job back in retail, but I'm really not discouraged about it. I feel like it will give me an opportunity to focus on me while simultaneously bringing in some income. I do eventually want to return to a full-time artist, but I need some extra cashflow to get my life in order and what have you. :) I will still be taking commissions, but a little less infrequently.
How about you guys, how was your year? And for artists, did you make any important artistic discoveries this year? I know there's still 10 days left but STILL I AM EXCITED.

My year has been... bleeeeeh. It's kinda sucked in all honesty. xD But there've been some good points. Made new friends, discovered polyamory, found two lovers and next year is promising to be a good year! So I guess despite being kinda overall -bad-, there've been some pretty awesome silver linings. ^_^
As far as art goes, I have discovered that I am a lazypants that needs to get off his bum and actually draw. xD
Main thing I discovered is that time is everything, the more time I can put into a piece the more awesome it turns out. I still got a lot of road left, tying to find that workflow of mine ~~~~
I hape your next year is gonna be awesome ~~~~~
You are totally right. I struggle with that too and feeling like I need to rush, but the more energy you put in the more you see. Thank you, best wishes to you as well!
I learned some new skills in my introduction to drawing class, and relearned some basics, which was extremely helpful.
for me the year was a constant roller coaster on many different levels... but I learned a lot and I'm ready for the next year; I'm actually closing this year in an extremely good note: gonna be spending the holidays with some of my best friends here at PA, got some pretty good grades this semester despite how hard and tortuous it was, and I'm just looking forward to seeing what will happen next :)
Art-wise, I thing I improved a lot on my anatomy, as well as the detailing I usually put into all the armor stuff I make and I really hope I can get somewhere with it! It's also really exciting to start coloring, since it's something I usually avoid doing x3
here's to great 2015 :) hope to see more of your awesome art in the future! and I would really like to chat sometime~
