I did something like this for my son, and my mate and I decided to just mash up different features from our characters.
The way we narrowed it down was by figuring out who we wanted our son to look like more. We decided to make him look more like his father but have my face and colour pallet. Took a few tries to get the design just right though. I suggest just playing around with the different features, it's kinda fun

then with their powers the gods created all the other animals and critters to fill the land.

With their last breath they created the fox. A mix of the Cats who watch, the Dogs who protect and the truest purest magic there is.
The fox, being the youngest of the children of the gods was sent to lead man to happiness and the future.

He is a fox because he is to because he is a mix of you who watches and he who protects. gifted with the future.
