SFIV Tournament Round 1 - Victory!

Was up until about 4 am this morning, nervous as fuck. c_c;
So, I finally win a tournament, but it's only the first step. :p Gief took it all the way, though. YEAR.
Lots of shoto-scrubs, a few Sagats, and one damn good Claw (the guy who came closest to beating me).
What pissed me off was that some 30 people or so signed up but a good portion no-showed. NOT FOR ME. Everyone in my brackets showed up: I was the only one who had to fight every round (meaning I had to beat 6 people, and defended my "Championship" afterward). The other finalists got at least 2 byes. >:( 3 of the people who knew me best were among the challengers I had to face, too.
I was thrown off by the stipulations of no-unlockables (no Gen for me) and Default controls, but got lucky on every misfire. Next round I can't be so sloppy.
So, I got a nice yellow Ryu headband ("Street Fighter IV, U.S. National Championship: Store Champion"), wristband, and certifcate/entry proof. Next week I compete for the District Championship in Round 2.
I also seemed to have been given the name "Arcade" by the GameStop staff. Har.
Now I just gotta get next Saturday off.

I found out all 16 Finalists get spots in EVO, not just the winner (who gets the actual arcade game), and get flown to the finals of this tournament. It looks like we're on our own for getting to EVO if we actually make it in.

Though, be very very weary of Rufus players in the upcoming rounds, from what I've seen...he's this game's Yun minus GENEI JIN :/

If he catches you in air with his double roundhouse kick, he lands first, activates the ultra and connects all of the hits
The ground chain combo you spoke of, the one that lifts you with a high kick
In the corner after using his spinning palm fist
If he does his EX-Messiah kick and EX-cancels out of the FlashKick-lookalike finisher
If he catches you in the air with his EX FlurryFist thing he does while jumping, he can juggle you with the ultra on landing

And yeah, EX Messiah... that move is fucking amazing.
Good job on winning first round! This weekend they're supposedly allowing unlockable characters, but I don't know if any are worth playing except Akuma at this point. I'll see you at EVO's top 16. >:3
