Ahh, hell. I'm sorry to hear that.

You know, I'm revisiting this from 7 years distance, and it's both interesting and profoundly disturbing that while I've recovered full use of my right (primary) hand, the color of my skin on the pinkie side is noticeably different (reddish) and there's some sub-dermal scarring - and also, having ended up spending a week in the hospital while (a) my spouse was heavily pregnant with our second, born Jan 26, '15, and (b) we were involved in a sudden and unanticipated move to another apartment, because our one neighbor was aggressively insane, my son seems to have ended up a little scarred by his experience of my disappearing without warning. (It being flu season, he wasn't allowed to go further than the hospital lobby, and I was not to go snuggle him until the infection had been cultured and identified and then completely knocked down.) Then, when my daughter was born a month later, we had to leave him with a friend and her kids for a few days. All this time we had been able to talk on the phone (with adult help, since he was very small at the time, ofc), but it's not the same.

I hold out hope for his resilience, though. It's amazing to see he'll be nine in two months.
