Iirc MS has a 3 year replacement policy if it was the red ring

Wish it was, but it's not. The GPU is clearly cooked. Probably related to the whole "Xbawks overheats" thing that ultimately causes RRoD, but no RR. I'm debating the merits of fighting MS Support to make them cover it.

Well, Microsoft normally still would have a one year warranty on it, from what I've been told by my dept manager at Wal-mart.

Pfft. Cry some more. I'm on my 6th 360, myself. And it's showing signs of going to the grave after only one year, too. It'll play games fine, but games that have CGI cutscenes, sometimes there'll be excessive "stuttering" in the cutscene, and it'll sound like the lens to the disc drive is tapping on glass as it tries to read the games.

Thank gawd it lets us install games to the hard drive now, which will no doubt prolong the lifespan of this current 360, but even the 120 GB hard drive I have will fill up quick if I just put every game I own on it. x_x

See, this is why I like the Wii. That sucker never fries itself. Okay, so they got hosed in terms of third-party software, but the few good games they have are really really great. Like Brawl, and Zelda. I can't get enough of those. And Raving Rabbids TV Party. That game is extremely fun, and funny. It would be even more so if I actually had people to play with...

Funny, that, how a console with 10 year old standards using new technology is reliable.

I'm sure if anyone made a 500mhz processor today it would be pretty reliable.

I bought a 360 almost exactly a year after it was released. I haven't had it replaced once. :|

I dunno what, but I've got this weird feeling that all the people complaining about bricks r doin it rong.
