For those ones asking if im open for comissions
11 years ago
No, im not, I take them sporadically when people give me good ideas to work with.
I post this because theres a certain trick people´ve been pulling on me recently. They send me the common “I just wondered if you were open for commissions”, I answer “I am not” but as an idiot I ask “What were you thinking you wanted?” And you guys…well…
You answer the worst thing possible.
“Just one pic of my character”
Ok nothing bad there, that’s fine, everyone should have a pic of their character it’s ok BUT WHY SO VAGE!?
Seriously, there’s been some times when you ask me to draw a character and I say “Awww its ok, its an adorable character, I accept” just because I liked the character, and after I accepted I ask “What do you want him doing?” and I suddenly get requested something that its over my limit or a circumstance that I’m uncomfortable with, like a fetish I don’t particularly like, and yes, I already accepted, I feel obliged.
So, HAVE THAT IN MIND! I don’t mind a commission from time to time, but I’m busy making comics so I have something to show that is from myself, and if I’m going to spend my time on someone else’s idea, it better be a good one.
On a side note, No this is not an open invitation for you to send me a note right now asking for a commission. You want Mandy comic? You want Zoom to happen? You want a future berry comic? Let me work!

Point form is always the best for describing what you want drawn.
Im not asking for a commissions im just trying to help jump start some ideas that might interest you c:
Yeah that stuff is frustrating. I don't mind it with people that come to me often with commissions as I am usually familiar with their characters but people being vague makes the process extremely difficult.
But then I looked through your journals and your profile, and there's not actually anything that might suggest you don't do this-or-that for commissions. So, and I'm really really sorry and don't mean to offend, this just comes off as... kind of whiny?
I think there are definitely better ways you could've worded this. For example, just clear up that you're not currently taking commissions at all, and while you do make exceptions sometimes, there are certain things you don't enjoy drawing and shouldn't be expected to be drawn *insert list of such stuff*.
Some people are vague when commissioning, and it's up to you to ask them if they could please be more descriptive. It's also up to you to turn them down if they want their character to do something you're uncomfortable with. If you feel obliged to do it because you've already taken payment, then stop taking payment until the details have been properly discussed. If you feel obliged to do it because you already said you would, but haven't taken payment... just politely explain that you're not comfortable drawing the topic at hand, but thanks a lot for the interest in your art. You don't owe it to anyone to do commissions for them, you don't owe them any work until you've actually taken payment... and even then, you can give them a full refund and your sincere apologies. This is art we're talking about, not, like, a, err, an oxigen tank? I'm not quite good at analogies there.
But yeah. I'm just sitting here thinking how horrible I'd feel if I had commissioned you in the past, and I had come saying "oh, just my character", and "oh, I'd like them to be doing xxx", only to read this and wonder, Did my character doing xxx piss off Nedoiko? Why didn't they tell me directly, rather than posting this kind of journal? You're not calling out anyone or anything, but everyone has widely different kinks and tastes and whatnot, and without a clear outline of what you do and don't do, how can anyone avoid making you accidentally uncomfortable?I'm sure everyone who comes to you asking for commissions adores your art, and none of them would want to deliberately offend you or annoy you. And yes, there's going to be a bunch of people who ask about commissions even if you post up a journal saying "no commissions, but if there's an exception, I don't do x, y, or z", but they're going to be less of them than if you don't post anything at all. You can even direct them to the journal, adding a little link in the profile description, since that's what they're going to look at before sending over a note, anyway.
And, i know some people may feel uncomfortable with the idea of "having accidentally make me unconfortable" but im a pretty chill-polite person in my own opinion and i can handle peoples ideas even if theire unconfortable, the only thing is that it was either me feeling secretly uncomfortable forever when i take comissions, or posting this yournal, you guys feel unconfortable for a while, I tell you that "its fine, just ask first next time, i dont have anything against you" because thats the case, and we move along with a better artist-comissioner relationship.
...
And I want you to draw him with his legs folded up like a pretzel while using the American Sign Language gesture for "Clown," while a flock of white doves fly overhead in a parabolic pattern, with every 3rd dove leaving a trail of dodecahedron-shaped stars, which are rainbow-colored. Every side of the stars must be an opposite color of the one adjacent to it.
Also, Jessie has seven cocks. Five on his crotch, two in place of his nipples.
and I want it done in Krita, not SAI.
And I want you to do it at 5 AM, and do it during a stream in which you are playing the soundtrack from Starship Troopers.
And after that, things will get REEEEEEALLY complicated!
