Maintaining hope
Today, I've finally finished the dragon story I have planned for long. I love it, but it trully was a gruelling work. But I'm happy to post it, on this website.
I know I shouldn't speak of it... I mean ; it's extremely important, but so desperating, sad, and overly related by the news... And FA is a bit like a protected island in the middle of all this cruelty...
...
The situation is quite weird for few days - here, in Paris.
Some fucking, fanatic bastards had shot at some values of the universal rights of all conscious beings.
Let alone the lives they thought they had the right to take.
...When I came out today and yesterday, I had the impression that every people in the streets were thinking about it. Everybody speak about it, actually. Our professors cried. The day of national mourning permeated the whole society, even the usually stiff people in the metropolitan.
The minute of silence we had, with all the students, outside, in the courtyard, in the rain...
I knew that terrorists existed. I knew about fire guns, death, and these crual things that manipulate people, play on their fears, use their beliefs.
But with the last event, I saw, again, some of our people post terrible messages of hate through Internet. I saw other people who, I'm sure, are only revolted to mimic the others, or, months ago, who would have insulted some caricaturists, promotion of gay marriage, or would have wrote some racist words.
Let alone that ridiculous lie about all that humanity is - you know, all that make us have secrets, or do anonymous things. As coming on this site, for example. Being anonymous and secret, to do and be what we really are, or to do only what we only want to do.
I'm glad that Internet exist as a place where mankind could be as it is. Thus we can all enjoy our bodies, thoughts, dreams, for lack of anything better when we look at our hypocritical society. Sadly, anonimity also mean that Internet is the place of the worse of our kind - intensely hostile men and women, who had no respect for any who would be judged different, abnormal ; who wouldn't be like them, who would not have their overly narrow minds.
Freedom... Freedom of speech, of thought... What are those pseudonyms, "safe" rated artworks, and the intimate thoughts we have, if these noble freedoms are actually applied, nowadays ? With the freedom of the press we have, it could be seen as a step forwards ; but we all know that it's only the tip of the iceberg, when you look at what humanity is.
After all these years of existence, seeing this Homo Sapiens, the most evolved species on this planet, ruining everything, everyday, said doomed, and making nothing to change... All these horrible people, around the world, ready to cut your throat and make you speechless, in the name of irrationnal, groundless fears...
...
I personnally think that only art could have a chance to change something. The only magical thing in our society which is left to us, to fight for a better world. Express yourself ; write things, draw things, create those pieces of imagination that could fill that society with wonder, or at least that could show them that an other point of view exist. That's the only way to fight against evil - and I mean by this hackneyed word all that could harm people in their essence, that is to say their body, consent and individuality. The only way to have the complete freedom we deserve, since we are all aware of our existence, in a climate of well-founded respect.
That's why I'm gladder that places like FA exist. Even if there's always the anonymity matter, and even it has a little place in the middle of this world, seeing a majority of liberated individualities who show tolerance among others, who can even share their artworks, and be kind... That's one of the few things that still makes me hopeful. ^o^
...I'm writing a lot of things on my side, as always. It's a lot more easy to write in French, for sure. Lately, I came across the mad, time-consuming idea of translate a part of my work. Maybe, when it'll be done, I would post it here.
But, among all the sentences I could write, my main goal remains the book I'm writing. I really wish I had more time to work on. You know, that piece of pure freedom of speech and thought... Of Imagination. I always keep it with me. That's another source of hope.
That's all what I wanted to say, I think. It may be a bit mixed up ; sorry for it. I just wanted to write something, somewhere. To take my mind off the gunshots that had resounded in this "country of the Human Rights", maybe...

Damn, that was quite deep and inspirational. I'm glad you spoke your mind. It's hard to disagree with what you said - about society, art, freedom and all that.
