Mmmm, Got Any Advice...

I'm frustrated.
I have within my head an idea for a very long, indepth story, that I am quite fond of. However, I find myself plagued with doubt. I doubt my skill, I doubt my ability to attract an audience, I worry I might fall into age old cliches and overused stories.
I suppose I need to just cast aside my doubts and try. It's worked before. But this one feels different, this feels like something I want to succeed, I want to be grand...
Any advice?

A fair bit from the sounds of it.
Do it anyway.
Some things are cliche for a reason - like basil and tomato. There is being made to work for a cliche, working with a cliche, and making a cliche work for you, adapting it to your style and using it as a vehicle to get where you want to go.
Success in writing is not found in the first draft. If you want to succeed, if you want to be grand, then you need to not only accept that your work may not attract a sizable following, but also that you may need to revise things, both liked and disliked. You have to "kill your darlings," so to speak.
If something does not fit, you must either remove it, or build around it until it does. The choice is up to you; but remember, you can always save the vignettes you love and use them in the future.
I say give it a try. Throw some stones into the mix and see how the liquid settles.
