I feel I should probably clarify my stance on some things in the wake of these murderous attacks in france by homegrown extremist islamic dumbasses.
Okay serious sheepy face here /e_e\
I have read the investigation report and these are the result of long standing socital woes in france that these groups used as fertilizer to grow a crop of pain and misery for europe.
I've read and studied much about history and culture, I have looked over religious texts from the big three, studied their history and lore, and even done some reports on them in collage.
I can say I respect islam, and even admire it's accomplishments while europe was languishing in the mess after the fall of rome. (I won't call it the dark ages, because there were some very bright spots, just not enough.)
That said I lament how far this part of the world has fallen since the collapse of the ottomans in the first world war.
Europe has to fight these extremists and also fight the conditions upon which they thrive, poverty, marginalization, personal and cultural isolation, mistrust, and ignorance. Things that countries like france have ignored for too long amid the immigrant and refugee population. Clean up the shit, and the poison fungus stops growing...
This all said Freedom of Expression, to me, is both the right to offend, to proclaim, and the right to be offended.
Charlie Hebdo has the right to draw whatever they want in their comics, and millions of muslims have the right to be offended by it and write a fuckton of bitchy letters and emails telling the magazine to fuck off.
it does not give any dumb bastard the right to shoot people over a crude picture, murder is murder, and these murderers need to be punished for their actions.
Which is kinda already happened because they shot at police and police shot back so all but one of the criminals and one of their girlfriends is dead.

But when people get defensive of extremism stuff, they're just totally ignorant of history. Like Uhud and how the battle basically created extremism because Muhammad troops thought clothing was better than winning battles. Or his letters to the kings which basically said "If you don't do your people the favor of converting, I will."
As my own personal opinion stands, I honestly do not see the fuzz and over-blown "media tragedy" in all of this.
Sure, killing of innocents is not something that can ever be justified... But is there really something to be shocked here at all?
In a world like ours, no less? Where the horror of war is rampant and things like the crimes of such wars are barely ever an actual subject that people gives any shits about... Or does people get all wimpy the moment their precious overly rich cities have to witness something that is almost fucking "ordinary"?
And, as far as I have heard, these "comedians" kept provoking all sorts of groups and religions over and over (Christianity included apparently), even going to the point of writing stuff like "We didn't get any terrorists attacks in recent times! Oh boy, maybe we will get lucky soon and get blown to shit or something!"
I'm sorry but....
No. Just. No.
They CALLED this upon themselves. They -wanted- this.
And even if it was all "satire" done in "good spirit", it doesn't change the fucking fact that you still have the duty to be respectful towards others instead of a constant dick-bag that thinks to know any sort of humor.
They deserved this. Their "bravado" also got a poor guard killed like an animal. Nice Fucking Job.
You may fully hate me for this, and despise me for all of these words with your very soul.... But I simply couldn't help it anymore.
It is still only my personal opinion and nothing more...
And considering the dozens of journals like this that I have seen... Sooner or later I had to express my ideas and toughs on the subject anyways...
Get a grip, I sincerely hope your a troll for your own sake.
After you have done that, Take a good good look at yourself and ask: "Is this what I want to do with my life?"
Get Lost.
